Get @doctorjuggles to make you a clone of this. Identical cable at half the price with your choice of hardware.
Or buy a branded one in the classifieds for about the same price.

I shot him a PM yesterday to enquire about the process, but of course I need to tell him which cable to clone. Which I don't know as I have to demo them to be able to pick one. The Ares S I could simply buy when/if I find it but they others warrant a good listening session not to buy something I want to get rid of a week later.

Yes. Actually, since First Times Shielding is paired with Red Halo FE, I picked up a Meet Again which is the stock cable that comes with the Le Jardin. This IEM is just a reshelled Red Halo. To my ear, the Meet Again and First Times Shielding are so similar to be indistinguishable from each other. Since Meet Again does more to improve the sound of Traillii than Jewel, I have Meet Again paired with Traillii in spite of the fact that it looks terrible together. The Jewel sounds about the same with the Meet Again or First Times non-shielding, so I have that IEM paired with the original First Times non-shielding.

I did a pretty extensive A/B test of cables with all 3 of the IEMs. I have now moved solidly into the cable believer camp. I am also in the DAC believer camp as well as I can definitely hear distinct differences between certain DACs and Cables.

What this exercise did was move Traillii up from number 7 in my collection to number 3. That's because the First Times Shielding/Meet Again cables really increase its excitement factor. I want to reach for the Bird a lot more than ever before now with this pairing. It deepens the bass and really highlights the great lower mids of the Traillii.

Red Halo FE is still my favorite. The First Times Shielding cable is a perfect match for it. It deepens the bass and makes the treble more transparent which enhances the experience since the Red Halo FE is so dominant in the mids.

Jewel is still great and my reference monitor. It has dropped to number 4 mostly because it did not improve as much with either the Meet Again or First Times Shielding cable. This may change if I find an even better cable to pair it with than the First Times non-shielding cable.

Red Halo FE with FT Shielding is very very awesome. Thank you again for the recommendation. Unparalleled synergy at the moment 🤩
Edit: oh btw, I’m glad I didn’t sell off FT. As of now, on a quick listen, I feel that it pairs better with EXT than FT Shielding and is one of the few cables that doesn’t get dislodged so easily with EXT.

That's audio porn right there in terms of transducer, cable and source! Thanks for the sharing. What you have done for this hobby is much appreciated!

What is FitEar?

Originally started as a "hearing aid related product" brand of Suyama Dental Lab, whose main business is the production of dental laboratory products, after that rumors spread as they created ear monitors for acoustic sites such as live venues and studios in Japan, and eventually 2010. FitEar officially entered the industry as a custom earphone manufacturer.
The origin of this is that in 2001, Mr. Suyama, the president of the company, applied a custom mold to the earphone attached to the iPod as a hobby, so this year is a memorable year of "roughly 20th anniversary" (President Suyama).
Roughly congratulations on your 20th anniversary

Roughly congratulations on your 20th anniversary
In such a 20-year history, there are products that FitEar has shocked custom earphone manufacturers around the world.
Until then, it was commonplace for custom to be custom and universal to be universal (models that use normal earpieces). 334 was released in the spring of 2012.
This method of ``making custom earphones universal as they are'' has been well-received because even products that were previously difficult to obtain in terms of obtaining ear molds and delivery times can be easily obtained as long as there is stock. After that, it will be adopted by various custom earphone manufacturers.

Fit Ear To Go! 334

Fit Ear To Go! 334
Nine years later, To Go! 334 has been renewed as a "roughly 20th anniversary" commemorative model!
That is the "TG334" that was released today!

TG334

TG334
Of course, this TG334 is not just a model with different colors and shapes! This time, I would like to carefully introduce the "changes" of the TG334 while comparing it with the To Go! 334.

Appearance of TG334

Let's start with a visual comparison. While the To Go! 334 was black, the TG334 has been changed to blue to match the existing models, the red of the TO GO! 333 and the green of the TO GO! 223. The housing itself has a size and shape that makes it look a little like a custom earphone.

Left: To Go! 334, Right: TG334

Left: To Go! 334 Right: TG334
This is the view from the stem (nozzle) side. As you can see, the shape of the stem itself was also round in To Go! 334, but in TG334 it is an oval type common to FitEar universal models in recent years. At the center of the stem, there is a pure titanium "direct HF tube" that prevents attenuation of high frequencies.

Left: To Go! 334, Right: TG334

At first glance, this oval stem may make you wonder if it will fit in your ear properly, but in fact, as mentioned at the beginning, FitEar has been a manufacturer specializing in the fields of dental technicians and hearing aids since its establishment. This elliptical shape is also designed to accommodate a wide range of ear canal shapes and sizes, and when you actually wear it, it fits surprisingly well.

Accessories include a mesh pouch, cleaning brush, cable clip and earpiece in the familiar pelican case for FitEar products.

Contents of TG334

Contents of TG334
The biggest change in accessories is the earpieces. The conventional model came with a general black silicon one and a double flange (two-stage type), but the TG334 uses AZLA's special bundle earpiece SednaEarfit SE1000. This is characterized by the fact that the umbrella part is softer than the Light Short currently on sale and the shape is linear. 6 sizes of SS/S/MS/M/ML/L are included.
In addition, although it will be treated as a sample without warranty, the popular SednaEarfit XELASTEC (SS/MS/ML) will also come with a total of 9 types of eartips.

The only thing I would like to point out is that the TG334's unique oval shape and the SednaEarfit's unique shaft hardness combine to make it a little tricky to put on. However, it is a level that you will get used to if you put it on and take it off a few times. It takes a little effort at first, but once you get used to it, you can put it on easily.

Comparison audition with To Go!334

Now let's move on to the comparison. The To Go! 334, the previous model, and the MH334, the base model, were characterized by their monitor-like sharpness and tight low end. The spread and improved clearness come into your ears. As I listened further, the mid-low range, especially the vocal range, was dry in the To Go!

On the other hand, I feel that the To Go!

TG334 and iBasso Audio DX300

TG334 and iBasso Audio DX300

Speaking of FitEar, we have consistently adopted a "turret type faceplate" for both custom and universal.
This is particularly disadvantageous in terms of design, such as not being able to put so-called artwork as a custom earphone, but since this turret part is a cable connector, it can be used with any model as long as it is a FitEar cable. It's also a big advantage.
So, when I listened with the separately sold "FitEar Cable 007B 4.4 OFC" attached to the TG334...

The overall sound is thicker and the bass volume is increased, and the monitor-like sound changes slightly closer to listening. Of course, those who want to enjoy balanced connections, but those who already have FitEar products can enjoy different sounds by exchanging cables with different wire materials for each model.

TG334, actually...

I'm sure some of you who have read the TG334 I've introduced so far, especially the sound quality section, may be thinking, "Well, that's basically..."? Yes, just as the previous model To Go! 334 is based on the custom earphone MH334, this TG334 is actually a universal model based on the same custom earphone MH334 Studio Reference!

Custom earphones MH334 Studio Reference

Custom earphones MH334 Studio Reference

FitEar MH334 Studio Reference
If I reveal the details, it may be a shame, but the MH334 Studio Reference is priced at 198,800 yen (tax included) as of May 2021, and of course it is a custom earphone, so it is necessary to collect an ear mold and complete it. It will take about 1 month. On the other hand, the TG334 is priced at 154,000 yen (tax included), and if it is in stock, it will not take time to deliver, and you can enjoy it immediately.

In addition, the biggest worry for those who have custom earphones is that "I want to tell other people about the goodness of these earphones, but I can't let them listen because they don't fit my ear!" For those of you who are interested in custom earphones but are a little hesitant, it would be a good idea to first enjoy the sound of the TG334 and then consider the MH334 Studio Reference.

I like the way the IEMs were laid out. Spiderman Traillii doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. If Jewel is 4, What is #2?

the sound is one of a kind! and definitely one of suyama's favourite IEM! (he said it himself when he was in Indo)

Anybody heard this IEM? Someone presented it at the recent T.H.E. Show (the banner it from that show).

A few weeks ago I posted the question above. Later, I spoke with Andrew/Musicteck who is often approached by different brands for consideration of new products, and Andrew asked me if I'm interested to take a listen. Now, this V44 made its way to me for a week to do a quick listening and to provide the feedback. I was skeptical, yet curious because of 22-driver per side design. I listen/evaluate a lot of new stuff, only write about fraction of it, and actually thought this one deserves a little mini-review. Not even sure if Andrew/MT will consider carrying it, but I wanted to share my impressions anyway. So, here it goes!

Victory Melody VM-V44

vm-v44-01.jpg

Just when you thought drivers war was over years ago, here comes a new flagship IEM from an unknown company, Victory Melody, featuring a whooping 22 drivers per side. The model’s name is VM-V44 which refers to a total of 44 drivers used between both shells. Each shell has 8 Sonion bass BAs, 6 Sonion mids BAs, 4 Sonion highs BAs, and 4 Sonion EST drivers, and 2 switches. That’s a lot of drivers, but, surprisingly, they sound very coherent and continue to maintain their coherency even once you start toggling switches.

vm-v44-03.jpg vm-v44-04.jpgvm-v44-05.jpg vm-v44-06.jpgvm-v44-07.jpg

Obviously, to fit all these 22 Sonion drivers, voltage converter for ESTs, and a double switch along with crossover components, you need a lot of room. As a result, shells are big and will stick out of your ears, but they are surprisingly lightweight and fit comfortably. Just have to be sure a proper pair of eartips is selected for a secure fit. Also, I assume they didn’t have a spare room to put 2pin socket inside the shell, so they used protruded socket which is outside the shell, but unlike some other IEMs with similar external sockets, its polarity is not reversed and you can use any other regular 2pin 0.78mm cable which I verified. Stock cable is either silver or silver plated, and has connector housing that wraps around the protruded socket.

vm-v44-02.jpg

The tuning is actually very good, surprisingly good, and the switches do an excellent job with different levels of bass boost. By looking at my measurements with 4 different switch positions, you can see how well bass and lower mids scale up while upper mids/treble remain the same. Here, the credit probably goes to a well-executed crossover design which only boosts specific region of frequency response while keeping upper mids and treble unchanged, clear and detailed, without being pushed back as you add more bass.

vm-v44-09.jpg

Sound Analysis.

The overall sound is very natural and detailed. Coherency of tuning is on the level of listening to a pair of full-size headphones. The soundstage is OK, definitely above the average but not on holographic level of expansion, and you do feel like sitting in the front row, closer to the performer. Despite using BA lows, bass sounds very analog, full bodied, typical of DD weight/impact. It scales up well, going from a tastefully boosted impact to a precise and noticeably elevated EQ shelving filter boost in both sub-bass rumble and mid-bass punch.

As bass goes up, more body is added to lower mids, but they don’t become muddy or thick. Mids remain very detailed and still quite natural with a forward presentation thanks to a pinna gain boost around 2k-3k. Upper mids/lower treble also have a precise tuning to avoid common sibilance peaks, and sound very natural, detailed, clear, not too organic or analytical. Treble has its moderate sparkle and natural clarity. Not a very airy extension, just enough to give the sound a perfect upper frequencies definition without being rolled off.

I think for some it could beg the question, what other TOTL iems is the tuning closer to? To my ears, it is closer to Traillii due to their more relaxed analog bass, smoother laidback mids, and natural treble. Traillii does have a bigger, more expanded soundstage and more sparkle/air in treble, but V44 bass adjustment will scratch an itch if you are craving more bass with a deeper impact. Also, V44 shell is bigger, but it still fits comfortably in concha area of my ears.

vm-v44-08.jpg

To me, Victory Melody is an unknown new brand, but the tuning is quite mature and well done considering 22 drivers per side. What impressed me the most is the coherency of tuning with all the drivers working in unison. Then, also a rather well executed crossover design with 2 switches giving you 4 levels of precise bass adjustment which is not a gimmick. And, along with a bass adjustment, I was impressed how upper mids and treble remained forward, still quite detailed and natural, and not overpowered by the bass boost.

Funny how their banner says “More is Better”. While it’s not always true, especially relative to IEM design and driver count, but in this case it actually works :)
