Ah, this is so nostalgic. It sounds just as I remembered from 3 years ago. A classic DD hybrid with a classy piano black shell and gold logo

And.. the red Solaris

It's actually pretty compact small in size clasping at hand. Similar to the 2020. The sound is warmer, and smoother in the lower treble, well-balanced in the mids
How is the soundstage compared to the 2020 / OG (if you’ve heard it)?? They are certainly good looking IEMs!

They're quite big, but which model is bigger I'm not sure. The red one seems to be the flatter w-shaped one. It's less bright (but still Solaris tuning sounded too bright for my ears)

Definitely love the look of the LTD, but I went with the OG...I'm really excited to hear it. That Solaris sure is beautiful but the proof in the pudding for me will be in the bass. If the bass in the Solaris X is just as good as the bass in other versions of Solaris I'll be tempted by it...will eagerly await impressions.

Because I'll be visiting my mom for a few weeks very shortly in another part of the province I've had all my recent orders directed to her place...by the time I get there there should be two IEMS, two sets of new tips and two new cables waiting for me.

Haha...when we talked about you buying my Ely you were like "I'm not sure I can blind buy a $2K IEM"...and now you've got two on the way :D. Such is the drama of this hobby. (BTW I wouldn't be laughing about this if I hadn't been through this exact scenario ("I don't think I could do X"...then proceeds to do X, and then Y & Z for good measure) many times in this hobby. Can't wait to hear your impressions!

In other news:

Shipped

So the next step is getting the SpinFit CP155 and CP500 and if I can't make them work with them (knowing that SpinFit never really worked for me), I'll have to let the Isa go without getting to know the full potential they clearly have.

CP155 and 500 are a no go 😔

I ordered some Azla tips (standard and light).

If the Azla don’t work out I give up and the Isa will be for sale.

Getting ready to hit the road for a variety of errands, not the least of which is a quick meetup with @SBranson and a long awaited Traillii demo. The anticipation is insane, partly because this will possibly be the first time in my life I've experienced what is reputed to be the absolute summit of one of my hobbies, and partly because I'm a little nervous that this experience could ruin all my other IEMs for me and put me down a path of obsessively pining to acquire something which is really well beyond my means in any responsible adult sense.

Has anyone tried the LTD?

You mean the Reborn LTD? I read that Oriolus confirmed that the LTD was like the Reborn but with less bass and more upper mids/lower treble...and given that it's a "LTD" edition and costs like $500 more I figured it was made primarily for the Asian market, both tuning and marketing wise, so I stuck with the OG Reborn.

Whenever I hear anyone talk about the CFA Mammoth I think of this cartoon.

Isa's finally in my house! Gonna let it chew through some death metal for a few days. I liked the balance of everything right out of the box, but it was pretty rough in the treble. Too bright in the upper mids and highs and needed some technicalities stat. Hoping the full range DD will loosen up and pull off some added detail. From reading previous 1st impressions, it sounds like it will. :L3000:

My initial impressions of the Isabellae are sorta similar. The upper-mids and low-treble are certainly on the more forward side. It has that sizzle-y quality to its transients that give vocals, snare drums, hi-hats and the like a touch of tizz. They're fine with most of my music, though. I only noticed a bit of leanness on vocalists like Rachael Price or Michael Bublé, who tend to rely on their lower ranges for gravitas and power. But, otherwise, I found the tonality fairly natural and pleasing throughout, and it definitely has some of the best technique I've heard under $1000. It doesn't have that fuzziness to its imaging or that pillowy-ness to its dynamics that I often find on in-ears at this price range. Everything sounds tactile, vivid and clean-cut, so there are definitely no complaints there. Like you, though, I'll be burning them in a bit more before I post my more thorough impressions on the threads.

I'd also like to add that its build overall feels very nice. Based on how thick (and evenly thick) its shells are, I'm pretty confident that they were 3D-printed. If they are, then props to Oriolus for getting them as clear as they are. I should note, though, that I only find them impressive for the Isabellae at its price point. It's a different story if it was pricier... much pricier.
