Back in the late 90s there was only one store in all of Vancouver that sold MDs or MD players. The tech just never caught on in my part of the world. Then I moved to Osaka in 2001 and saw that was all anyone had been using there for at least 10 years. I felt so ripped off lol

I had one of these bad boys. I COULD NOT BELIEVE I could put 150 MP3s on one burned CD.

CD-MP3 players were legit life changing. I remember when I got mine.... having THAT much music on one CD was mind blowing. No longer having to carry around a case to hold all your CDs!

For nostalgia, this was my first DAP purchase, I took it EVERYWERE as you can see. I must have clocked close to 1m miles on United with this. I’m going to charge it to see what’s loaded.

Astell & Kern AK380, with the attachable amp. I also found its sister, the SS version, and it booted up instantly. Slightly better condition. Browsing files now.

Now this turned into a treat. My first expensive IEM, Andromeda, with AK380 SS and an artist I totally forgot about. Bliss.

All this talk of old school CD, MD and DAPs has me thinking about my journey for sources. This is what I can remember ... I still own the Sandisk and FiiO M7 DAP in a drawer that's waiting to be brought out for nostalgic purposes later for my boys.

Koss CD player > Sony CD player > Sony MD player > Microsoft Zune > Creative Zen II > Sandisk Clip > FiiO M7 > FiiO M11S > ibasso dx160 > shanling m6 pro > ibasso dx320 > shanling M9 plus > l&p p6pro > fiio jm21

🤣🤣🤣

I hope am not asking something which was already in the thread and i missed 😁
Was reading about Elysian Apostle , but other than the configuration, design etc. could not find even 1 review 🧐

They are available but are not yet reviewed 🤨

Anyone here owns them by any chance and could share some thoughts about them?
Any reason there are no reviews yet published?

My first DAP was this iPod (i think?), I'm not sure if it has a special name.

Then I moved onto the iRiver H10 before switching back to iPods, this thing sounded amazing! If I am not mistaken.. iRiver eventually became Astell & Kern or something along those lines. :)

Currently borrowing the C9ii amp from MusicTeck, this thing is great! I wouldn't suggest using it with highly sensitive IEMs like the Clara as there's quite an audible noise floor during quiet passages (this is an area I think the LP-EA4 is really impressive as its dark and has even more power) but there's so many sound shaping options that all make quite a difference so I prefer the tone and techs over the EA4. It's overwhelming at first but once you start using it and sort of figure out what you enjoy more it's really a treat to have. As of right now I am probably leaning towards not buying it because if I am sitting at my desk or stationary I'd rather use the Fugaku, but I am loving using it at the moment. It's a very technically impressive amp and I am enjoying the tone too between the Classic tubes and SS options. The way it handles imaging, separation, layering, and dynamics is great.

This ipod was also my first dap. #geezers

Have you seen any reference to SQ to the SP3000T. I enjoy the tube mode on 3KT but have an eye on the Cayin and L&P. Have it on list to see if I can audition at some point.
