iFi Go Bar Kensei arrived today... a few unboxing shots - beautiful packaging and device... getting ready for some Monday night Bandcamp shopping shortly!

Yeah it is a stunning looking device, much smaller than I thought it would be too - similar size to the likes of the Cayin RU6 but a lot heavier being metal.

It is stunning and definitely HEAVY! By far the best dongle I've tested but there are certainly a lot that I haven't tried yet. Still it is fantastic and I look forward to your review!

I am trying out the new style tips that Penon is working on putting out soon. I have just tried them on 2 iems so far, including the Rival. Here's a closeup of the large size...


So far, I much prefer these to the Liqueur tips. They allow for a very deep insertion and would be ideal for most BCD sets. They are actually ideal for Rival.

They are grippy like Liqueurs, but shorter stemmed, and the silicone is softer and very comfortable, like invisibly so. The only minor gripe is they usually flip inside out when I take them out. No big deal, just flip them back. These really excel at getting a nozzle as deep in your ear canal as it can. Definitely will be ordering these on their release!

The Questyle is my favorite source of the past 2 years. Aside from a small quibble about having to manage the shortish battery life, it excels at everything I look for: detail, resolution, imaging, dynamics, timbre, sweetness of mids, note weight, sub-bass reach, extended treble, no bloat or harshness anywhere in the FR. As I stream pretty much exclusively from Qobuz through Roon or my phone, it fits all my needs, as well. There is just something about current drive amps. The old QP1R was my long-time favorite and this is better. For reference, I sold my RS8, DX320Max, D16, and M9+ but kept this. As for a more dongle-sized dongle, the DC-Elite is great - powerful, full, dynamic, detailed. Lacks the last bit of depth, holography and timbral accuracy of the Questyle but it's great for on the go foot-tapping fun and it's a sexy bit of kit.

Have you tried any of the small Questyle dongles?
