For me, APX SE is at this time the best in the world for (mostly female) voices, orchestra, pop, some electronic music...

Nah sorry that's not enough, in these crazy days "the best in the world" won't cut it... It's gotta be at least "The best in this universe and all alternate universes in all its dimensions, in this life and the next, Omnia Vincit Amor, Watercooler Forever" :metal:

My triple flange days are over and I promised I will abstain from this self destructive practice. Going strong 10+ years!
Thrust your own ears.

Etymotic wasted a great chance with that slogan imo.

The Fei Wans are very good, but I am not certain they are for me so far. I preferred the RN6 I had a little while ago. It probably does not help that I also have a Susvara Unveiled on loan with me now, I cant realistically expect an IEM to compete with something like that. I do keep considering whether IEMs are best for me at all given I have a fixed listening position for them, perhaps I am simply a full-size headphone kind of guy nowadays. Actually, I would be interested to know for people that have high-tier headphones along with IEMs, your use-cases for each, do you reach for your IEMs when you have full-size cans readily available, or only for portable listening etc?
I've been all full-sized headphones for the longest time, but since I got my Viking Ragnar and Onyx I've been picking up iems more often. The black background leads to things sounding more cohesive to me and these both have a great soundstage. If I'm sitting at my desk, then it depends on how much background noise there is--air conditioners, tv, etc.

I really just re-discovered iems at CanJam Dallas last year. Looking forward to hearing some more this year.

The whole TOTL debate is funny... what metric is "TOTL" being judged off?

All I can think of is the price it supposedly costs, and how much one would then cope after buying said items 🤣

Consumer brain is wild...

There's no way to objectively measure this is there? Subjective rankings of TOTL would be pretty worthless. For myself and also various others I know, there are many IEMs often talked about here as a "TOTL" that I wouldn't even consider at quite literally 1/10th the cost.

I think the term itself is somewhat obsolete.
Well, since / if that's what some people here obviously only want to read - sorry, hear: so be it 😌

To each his own :beerchug:

Utterly amazed by Xe6 in combination with p6 pro hk, this iem does it all. Aside of meatyness and bass, very impressive technicalities that I didnt expect from it. Still very airy in spite of heavy bass tuning.

Choosing a proper cable right now, mine came with RN6 stock cable, had to tame the treble with atom modules. Considering code 24, how does it compare with RN6 stock on Xe6?

Never heard such good mid bass, not even with over ears. Closest a headphone came to a live concert experience so far.
I was using the Rn6 cable with my Xe6 for months and really enjoyed that sound. Recently, I tried this new Penon Pyramid cable with it, and now it's taken over. The Pyramid gives a little more weight and brings the treble out nicely. Good budget cable for an expensive iem.

I would like to buy an inear earphone for a friend of mine so that he can gain experience with it, he has not used it yet, only headphones. So we need a model that is universally comfortable, small, light and has a good sound. it listens to everything, so you need an all-rounder tuning, harman target is close. hybrid or tribird would probably be the best, where the sub frequencies have DD. up to a maximum value of 300 dollars. I look forward to your definite suggestions.

What about the Final A5000?

I'm using the A5000 on my daily commute with the A&K SR25 Mkii. It is a single DD driver and I hear a balanced music presentation and good bass quality.

I don't know, but I asked the question :) and I'm still waiting for the kind answers :) so far not many recommendations have come, but as I've looked around up to $300 - the dunu davinci may be the best in the category with two dynamic Drivers and four Armatures. As I have seen, many people buy them and love them very much. I probably think that technically you can't buy a better inear for that much money.

Another option is Penon Fan3 that was JUST released.

Yes I love A5000, a great all rounder and a set I still use on a regular basis with Aune M1P, an excellent combo… a shot from earlier this week.

Intrigued about this new set from DITA - reminds me of Sony earphones from the 90s… but these appear to be wireless. Anyone at the show in Hong Kong and tried them?

They are not wireless by default. I think it is bone conduction as well as driver. They accept mmcx cable, and have accessory attachment to make it wireless.

I really like how Dita audio is experimenting with different ideas.

Edit: No bone conduction, just a large DD.
