Alas, my venerable Bose QC25s, my flight companions for the past five or six years, somehow got left behind on a flight and I didn’t realize it until my connection flight had already taken off.

I need to pick some new ones out now for flying and may as well go more modern. Between the Mark Levinson 5909, Focal Bathys, Apple AirPods Max, and the new Noble Focus Apollo is there a clear winner? Do all allow wired connections for those flights that need a headphone jack for the in-seat entertainment?
Can't comment on the others, but I do own the Bose QC25's and Apple AirPod Max. For me the AirPod Max is the better listen, but doesn't allow for any wired connections. YMMV

Upping my game on the photography composition aspect :)

Smartphone picture quality is just terrible but oh so convenient!

Lovin' this all metal built amp and headphone combo :)

Thanks! One at a time indeed! Figuring out how much flexibility I have with my phone for now while I save up for a nice mirrorless stuff and more of headphones :)

Ah, Shame, that’s out of the running then.

100% of my wireless headphone use is when flying, and some planes don’t have Bluetooth connections to the screens so you have to use cables.

Posted this in the Immanis thread, but it’s worth reposting in the WC HE thread. This beauty finally made its way home:

Wow! Those two look like they were made for each other. Cayin makes the best looking tube amps hands down. Congrats on a killer setup.

I hope to hear this same pairing at CanJam Dallas this weekend. :fingers_crossed:

You can try the Tung Sol KT170 in the Aegis too as long as the rectifier and power supply can feed the 1.75A heater current requirements I believe. It’s not that much over the 1.6A requirement for KT88 :)

IIRC there was a post from L0rdGwyn that the KT170 might work only way to find out is to be a guinea pig hehe

How Fitting!! I should give that opera a listen on the Macbeth.
My personal policy is that the inaugural listen on all new gear should be a pun / dad joke, or some similar homage. Almost went with a track called "Out Damn Spot." 😉

I ran through some trance tracks just to get a sense of staging / imaging and bass, but am still just kicking the tires. Really loving this IEM! It's the first to capture my attention since Multiverse, which managed to ruin all other IEMs for me for the past couple years. I'm excited to keep putting Macbeth throught the paces with a wide variety of material! So far, it's mighty impressive. I especially appreciate how comfortable it is for a uni--I've gotten spoiled by customs. 😊

I would wait for an amazon prime day sale.

The QC25's are very venerable. God, the state of the cups and the foam pads alone had them in the "please throw out".

The AirPod Max is showing its age. It's also not the lightest headphone. How badly do you need the wired listen over the bluetooth codecs?

The Bose Ultra's are very good for travel if your budget extends that far. I recently looked at pretty much a whole range of wireless headphones (I own the QC35, QC Ultra, Bathys, H100) and would reach for the QC ultra preferentially for travel. For short <4 hour flights, the AirPods Pro2 does a decent enough ANC job. As long as you don't lose them.

Waiting for these to arrive. Great thing about ordering from a dealer that had them in stock is that I will only have to wait a week!

Thanks!! They really do look like they were made for each other! They really are a beautiful looking and SOUNDING pairing.

If you do get a chance to hear them together, you really should, though they may not be together. The only way I was able to listen to them together was a friend brought his Immanis and we went around to various different amps to try it together.

I still think the WA23 Luna edges the Cayin out in looks, just by a hair (just for me personally), but they both are very handsome looking amps. The Cayin’s looks were certainly a factor in why I wanted it, though.
