It's been bugging me since yesterday when I mentioned the long forgotten hybrid headphone from back in the day.
My Google-Fu is of the black belt variety and I was able to dig up the name....

ENIGMAcoustics Dharma D1000- https://headfonics.com/the-dharma-d1000-by-enigmacoustics/

However, I mis-remembered the tech as it's a dynamic/estat hybrid, not dynamic/planar.

Carry on.

Makes me wonder about headphones integrating estat drivers with dynamic or planar like IEMs. Perhaps Viking Weave Draupnir kind of dual drivers positioned in tandem with a cross over can develop in the future more broadly. But the electrical amping requirement and complexity may be not be worth the headache given how great large single-driver headphones are getting 🤷‍♂️

Isvarna? 🧐

Let the memes begin.:: 😁

Not sure how good is the new closed back hifiman’s sound but i got this portable combo at work for a week and i still enjoy it a lot
I don’t know if the msrp price tag $5499 worth or not but now they have the open box for $1599 is definitely a steal.
HM R10P synergy very good with rs8 dap.

Make me wonder what's the retail price of Isvarna a year from now. R10D, R10P, HE6SE, are some examples from Hifiman to cut the price tag extremely below the second hand market price.

p.s: At $1,6k actually R10P is truly amazing headphone

It is, easy to drive. u can drive it on any devices, and its sound great. Only complaints are the look and not good on noise isolation.

Yeah no complain about the sound for the price. My only complaint is how they seem so clueless to design/built at least a decent wooden cup. Plenty of example from other manufacturer. Even cheap Fiio headphone feels more "premium" with its wood housing.

I am not complaining about the price cuts, 1000SE for example is really a bargain for current retail price, even if it is not my preferred sound profile. It is great to have good sounding headphones at reasonable prices. (Going against the trend of who 'dares to put bigger price tags on their headphones'.) This pricing strategy though might bite back HFM at some point. At this point I would be very cautious at buying any HiFiMan new, when the tendency is that in a year or so they half the retail price. I bet there are quite a few pissed off original owners, who now lose a significant amount of money if they want to sell their stuff. Just look at the Audivina: $2000 a year ago, $699 now.

It is HiFiMan: heavily cutting costs wherever they can. At least when it comes to chassis.

Posted this in the Immanis thread, but it’s worth reposting in the WC HE thread. This beauty finally made its way home:

Amazing pictures... I'm drooling... congrats!!!

Looks like you're using the Cayin Sould 170L-HA to drive it? I know amp choice has a big impact on these headphones, how do you find this combo?

Will demo them again this weekend in Dallas. I do hope to find a way to demo them with the AIC one day..

Thank you, sir!

Yep, the Cayin Soul was one of my favorite pairings when I was trying it on various amps at CanJam. It’s a warmer tonality with a lot of weight and impact, but sounds quite large. Dynamics are some of the best I’ve heard, though admittedly I have not heard them on the AIC or MK465.

Definitely would love to hear your thoughts when you get to hear it on your AIC.

@Kammerat Rebekka has the honeymoon period worn off yet with the Auribus Sierra? The money from some recent gear sales is burning a hole in my pocket... :D
Well I’m in the process of selling off all of my Sennheiser’s (HD580/58X/600/650) with the exception of the HD490 Pro as it somewhat of a unique flavour…but yeah that should tell you something - coming from a huge 6 series fan:)

Alas, my venerable Bose QC25s, my flight companions for the past five or six years, somehow got left behind on a flight and I didn’t realize it until my connection flight had already taken off.

I need to pick some new ones out now for flying and may as well go more modern. Between the Mark Levinson 5909, Focal Bathys, Apple AirPods Max, and the new Noble Focus Apollo is there a clear winner? Do all allow wired connections for those flights that need a headphone jack for the in-seat entertainment?
