Check out this thread: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sid...ml-5909-m-d-mw75-focal-bathys-and-more.958727Not sure if this is the topic for it. But maybe someone could help me in the right direction (to the right topic). Looking for a bluetooth (wireless) over ear headphone for portable use. Is there a discussion thread somewhere, or doe you guys have a suggestion what headphone to look into (per example the Bathys?)

That's interesting because after I demoed LCD-5, I was really calm and not excited at all.The overall experience was underwhelming. Much preferred the LCD-5.
After I listened to CRBN...I had a hot face out of excitement...
It really comes to who we are and not what the gear was like...
Cheers!
There are threads for all the top contenders, I believe, but I have not seen a general BT comparison thread that has caught fire. Look up the T+A Solitaire, Mark Levenson 5909, Dali IO-12, Noble Apollo and the Focals, for a start. I still use my dusty old Pendulumic S1+ so I cannot be of any help! Hoping to hear some of these newer BT models at CanJam Dallas next weekend. Not sure if this is the topic for it. But maybe someone could help me in the right direction (to the right topic). The answer is always: Audeze Maxwell. It's very isolating, so you won't hear much.
Sure, the Bathys is another headphone that might suit you.

Quite surprised to like the Valkyria that much. A bit too much energy in the very highs, but that might be a fault of the viva amp. The weight in the vocals and instruments is something I admire in music and that quality is the very thing that makes 1266 the best for me. It’s also the very thing that leaves me underwhelmed every time I listen to susvara or unveiled. This is the 5 hole vented version, 3 hole must have been crazy when it comes to physicality
Indeed, it truly is, it's on par with the 1266 in terms of dynamics, which is crazy. Of course the tonality is very different, but i think that the 3 hole variant is the best dynamic driver headphone that exists (sadly only ~15 exist and you can't buy it new).3 hole must have been crazy when it comes to physicality
Sadly with the "normal" versions, the subbass dropoff is making some genres sound disappointing rather fast, and the price is just stupid for a new one.
Interesting that you hear some peaky highs, the Valkyria is a rather dark headphone, i use my Takatsuki tubes with it to counteract that.

Wasn’t pleasant on some occasions, interestingly to some (lesser) degree with my 1266 too. Quite sure it is chain dependent and it was outstanding with the vocal based tracks I playedInteresting that you hear some peaky highs, the Valkyria is a rather dark headphone, i use my Takatsuki tubes with it to counteract that.

@number1sixerfan often shares his love of the Valkiria as it relates to volume. What kind of music do you listen to? I've always found my demos with them challenging, but on reflection I think they work really well with mid-centric recordings and live music reproduction, while for music that requires more frequency extension to the bass there is some wonkiness or inconsistency. So I'm guessing one's music preference may largely impact one's perception, beyond of course their personal taste. I can only guess my impressions were based on the currrent version)
That would sum up my experience with them.wonkiness or inconsistency

Yup 90% of my music and the only music i played were life like big vocal and instrumental tracks. Haven’t played anything more modern in need for deep subbass extension. It is great fot that weight quality alone, I can imagine it being very not genre universal. The fit is strange (stiff) and the headband adjustment is just plain cheap and so badWhat kind of music do you listen to? makes total sense! sounds like a great fit for you - that's awesome!

they are kinda heavy and not the easiest for long sessions (that said, I've build some real neck muscles and stamina in recent years, so that rare factors in anymore..

I saw this question on the portable wc thread earlier today and it intrigued me and me reflect on it, so thought I'd post this here for us for some weekend fun:
Reflecting on my past gear, I'm mostly very happy with the changes I've made over time. But if there were 2 headphones I'd be curious to revisit, these would be:
What are the 1-2 headpones (or other pieces of gear) you regret selling?
Reflecting on my past gear, I'm mostly very happy with the changes I've made over time. But if there were 2 headphones I'd be curious to revisit, these would be:
- ZMF VC in Ltd Olive wood - These were my first ZMF love and my daily driver for a couple of years. The Atrium, and then Caldera, supplanted them in my rotation, and I let the VC go after about a year of disuse. Every now and then I wonder if, with the distance of time, I would receonnect with them. I suspect that I would. They were also so incredibly gorgeous looking. I should probably have held on to them..
- Audio-Technica ATH-AWAS - They had gorgeous mids, but lacked in bass, and the pads were not deep enough for long-term comfort. At the time, I took what was sold as a given. I've since learned to roll pads on many of my AT heaadphones and found this can result in significant sonic (and comfort) imrpovements. I have a remaining wonder about what I might have been able to eke out of them with the many ZMF pads I have lying around. Could I get the kind of overhaul I got with the L5000? I think this itch will be easier to scratch sometime when I get to it.
Selling the Denon AH-D9200.What are your regrets?
Fantastic Closed-Back. Better for me than VC (and any other Closed-Backs).
The reason why i sold it is because its tonality was very close to the typical Hifiman signature (delayed pina gain, boosted smooth treble, but then with better dynamics). And i had an Arya and then later the Susvara.
I didn't use a Closed-Back for a very long time (except Maxwell), i just use IEM's instead. Also great, but i'm really looking forward to the Caldera Closed i will get next month.
