Black bears are sweethearts.
On a fishing trip I got separated from my buddy's. Alone in the middle of nowhere a black bear comes along, gives a couple sniffs, and literally smiles at me... then goes on his way.
Now I know bears don't smile, but this one did.

Polar bears on the other hand are jerks!
They'll own you before you even notice them.
If there's one thing to fear on this planet it's polar bears... and brown recluses.

My vote for the greatest bear is a tie between the legendary Colt. 45 Ocelot Bear of Nebraska or the feared Machete-Tailed Pooh Bear of Ashtown Forest. Gangsta mofos, I tellyawhat.

I don't know if anyone else mentioned this, but a Kodiak Bear would maul anything else on this list (it's basically a bigger, meaner Grizzly), but I voted Grizzly because it's the closest thing to a Kodiak (next to Polar Bears).
