The time is now. Did I choose correctly (DT-880 Pro)?

First post, sorry for reviving this zombie thread, thanks posters on whose threads I've lurked, yay headphones.

I thought I'd generate material easier for you to criticize.  I'm asking a typical "what model is right for me" question, but I've already purchased the model, so all you really have to do is tell me if I'm wrong.  If I am, I'll surely use your reasoning when I have another go at choosing.

Here's the requisite information you need!

I spent several years with Irish Sennheisers, 590s and 600s.  I like them.  I listen to music sent to one of a few DACs by my computer.  I don't compile my own kernel.  I prefer to edit text with nano.  I'm tall, medium-build, and have a long-oval shaped head, size 7 7/8".  I use a couple of HRT and a couple of FiiO DACs at work or home.  I understand impedance.  I have medium funds.  I'm classically trained.  I listen to various music; I'm caught in what might be a forum-frustrating cycle of wanting to hear everything on the recording, but then again only wanting to hear what I like in the recording.

I bought a pair of Beer Dynamic DT-880 Pro headphones.  I assume "DT" stands for Die Aufnehmer, but the acronym is in English.

I like the sound COLOR, as some here would say.  But I think that color as an analogy for variable frequency response is trouble.  I like how the sound spectrum at once fades in from octopus inkspot purple to a pastel band of gentle lilies, before expiring into a puff of bright white steam at the top.  You know?

But seriously, there's something missing from the middle on these headphones, vs. the Sennheiser sound with which I'm familiar.  There's something more at the top, and something even more at the extrabottom.  I like, vs. the closed headphones I've used, that these produce sound that gives me no impression that it's bouncing off anything.  I figure this is what the veteran headfire means when he/she says "airy."

So!  Criteria more clearly might be: medium budget, general use, searching for sweet spot between critical and recreational listening.

What do you think?  I'm very interested in anyone's strong "no" opinion and why, as I get a lot of info out of criticism, thanks.  I appreciate your time, and am interested to know what to look for during the next round of gear upheaval.

DT880 has a very detailed and 'airy' balance, but not the most layered sound.
K702 is more layered so it's often superior when it comes to critical listening.

K702 is not as bright as DT880 over 5kHz but it's more forward in the midrange around 2khz, and thus it can be shouty or overly nasal with the wrong recordings.

DT880 can be a tad cold, brightish, clinical.
K702 can be too forward and dry.
