The Summer meet is upon the Ohio head-fi'ers

While I will bring a DAC/preamp/amp, I do not own a laptop, ipod or any other portable source. I had planned to bring my wife's Acer Chromebook, but this evening, when I tried to connect my DAC via USB, it wasn't recognized. So if anyone has an extra source they are willing to connect to my system, that would be great. :)

I have an ipod that I can bring. It only has mp3 files on it though.

They're the most fun you can have with headphones and a bunch of dudes.

I kind of think @lord_tris is done with meets, but maybe we can get something together.

I think the newest, coolest thing in our little gang is @gibosi getting a fancy tube amp that takes 9 dozen different tube types.  That'd be neat to hear.  And smash with my Mjolnir.

(Trying this tag thing to see if they notice...)(doesn't appear to work, and I don't care)

You never know, something could happen this year or not. I'd like to get more information and explanation of tube rolling experience and what fits best for what. I can read online all day but I'd rather get live, firsthand accounts of usage and preference.

Look at you!  Email notified?

You two got tubes in the house now?

I roll tubes in my Sonett.  We could have done that all along.

A Glenn OTL which uses 6AS7/6080 for output, and for drivers, either a pair of C3g (think Yamamoto) or one 6SN7. And in place of the 6SN7, virtually any other medium-mu double triode, such as 6DJ8, E80CC, E182CC and so forth.

With a pair of Lorenz C3g

Or a Tung-Sol 6F8G

And if someone will remind me, I can bring a 6N30P-DR to roll in the Sonett. :)

What kind of 6N30?  I have like 4.  Including the touted Reflektor.  Think I like the Electro Harmonix better.

I have a pair of Reflektor 6N30P-DR. the so-called "Super Tube", But evidently you already have one of these, so I don't have to remember to bring one. :)

Yep.  They literally doubled in price shortly after I got mine.  Which is nice for me, as if I ever sold anything, I could ask for more than I bought it and be ahead.

Having said that, anyone want a Super Tube?

5687, 7044 and E182CC (7119) are often listed as substitutes for the 6N30P. If these have been found to be suitable for use in the Sonett and you would like to give them a try, I have a bunch. :)
