Hey guys have any of you purchased the new SR-L700MK2 ? is the detachable stax cable sturdy? i'm scared it might come loose and bam! fire/shock X_X lol
I'm tempted to pick up a pair with an affordable energiser. do you guys have a recommended energiser ? as most my budget will be going on the 700mk2.

AFAIK the L700 works with all the desktop amps from Stax. So the question becomes tube vs SS. The 252s is enough to drive it no sweat, and is very affordable.

I was thinking either SRM-D50 or the SRM-D10. hmm

The 252s is hands down more powerful than the d10, so unless you for some reason need the portability, why pay double for less? The d50 is a dac/amp combo and much more pricey than the 252s.

I'm going to go on a limb and say that unless you are planning to get 009s or 007, the 252s is clearly your best option. If you plan on getting a 007 in the future, you need to get 727ii or 007tii. If you are getting the 009, I think D50/006ts/353x/727ii/007tii will work.

But for the L700, the 252s is fine, and you save a lot of money that way.

take care not to buy a d50 with hum - there are some people who had no luck with this noisy amp

I bought a SRM T1S but a cheaper T1 is also a nice tube sound with the L700. When you go too cheap, you just might buy again, then you buy twice. First I bought a srm 323A, which was quite difficult to sell again. I lost 200 euro on that project.

That logic could be applied endlessly. Imagine what you would lose if you decided you wanted a HeadAmp Blue Hawaii all of a sudden?

Get the amp that powers the headphones sufficiently for the best price. Unless he plans getting other headphones which require more power, why ever buy a new amp?

Yeah that does sound like a better idea. Ill have to order everything online as there are no stax retailers at all in my city. And the only time i had a chance to listen to stax was when my friend bought his 009's online with a combo that came with an energizer. I know i cant afford that...yet.. but hopefully by then who knows, stax may have a 010 mk2 out xD haha

Hehe, well. I wouldn't expect any big breakthroughs sound wise - the lambdas, 007/009 are all very close in performance. The SR-Omegas from the 1990s are equally capable. So there is no reason to believe that there will be made any sonic improvements with a new release. The lambdas are all certified end game headphones at a reasonable price - if the signature and presentation is to your liking!

I’ve had them for coming up to a month and the cable is perfectly well attached.

I use them with an SRM-323S (from eBay) and SRM-007tii and both work well, I prefer the SRM-007tii but whether it’s worth the money will vary from person to person. If you’re looking to save money a second hand SRM-323 or 353 series driver unit is a good match.

A cheap way to the srm 007tA is ebay, and buy in Japan 100 Volt and a step down adaptor. 1100 euro plus taxes.

Does anyone get the new l-500mk2 and l-700mk2.
I wander whether stax use the same driver as old l-500 and l-700.

Also, does stax reused the pad from old l-700 and l-500?

Instereting. If l-700mk2 sounds similar to the old l-700, then it should be similar to l300ltd which I can get a brand new one around 500 bucks.
And if I spend $130 to get a l-700 pad, $630 vs $2000 will be really interesting.
