The Sony 40th Anniversary Walkman Thread

You can say a lot of things about the walkman. But the physical buttons of it are probably one of the best things about it. Stop fanboying the Fiio too much. I also like the idea of it but please keep reasonable

Strange comment. I'm a Sony fanboy if anything.

I've had ZX2, ZX300, A105 and ZX507 (and many older ones) but only a Fiio M11 and the BTR3 an BTR5.

For me its far easier to find and use the single rocker on the BTR5 than the flush buttons on the ZX507 and on the A105 I had to slide my finger to feel for track buttons vs. Volume buttons.

As for sound, the ZX507 does sound the nicest for me but I do love the Sony SQ.

I'm beeing as honest as I can be from my own use/perspective.

Maybe your too much a Sony fanboy!

And price really doesn't always guarantee a better sound IMO for the source.

He loves the Walkman lol. I don't think he's said a bad thing about it. Unless I'm tripping in another dimension or having a flashback and missing stuff.

Which is very well possible.

Only bad thing is the bloody EU volume cap. I'm still looking to import a ZX507. Had confirmation from JoyBuy the ZX505 doesn't have PlayStore.

I have a lot of DIY costs this month so am import ZX507 will have to wait :triportsad:

Volume cap is a pain in the ass. I like Sony, but I like fiio, hiby, shanling, cayin, ibasso, looto etc. Sony has a nice house sound and usually great battery life, but I do like some of the other stuff I've tried a lot.

I like the m11, dx160, r5, and the paw 6000. Good to have variety.

I try a lot then sell on or return as only really want one player. I've not been that impressed with Fiio, Hiby or Shanling.

I gave over buying IEM's after SE846's as just love them and used for over 2 year now.

Not a fan of headphones, with my peak at Sen HD800. Just have a pair of Audeze Mobius now for their great versitility.

I thought the m11 was a pretty nice machine, it did have a different tuning though. I liked the hiby r5 and r3 pro also and I liked the shanling m2 yonks ago.

I actually really liked the dx160 alot but the BT was horrible. I mean most stuff is decent these days they all have their little quirks.

Sony is very solid, all that experience in portable audio and they have a great ui.

At the moment I'm only interested in aquiring an un-capped ZX507 as the looks/build/SQ/size are spot on. I can cope with low battery as rarely listen more than 5 hours solid anyway.

I came to find the A105 a bit too small and my inner voice tells me I should be listening balanced :)

More power is always nice.

Have you used your A105 to watch youtube videos? how was the audio/video sync?

Honestly never tried video on any DAP. Always have a large screen phone for that, currently S10+.

how do you compare the os300 and a105? and or m11? thinking of getting one. zx300 has a balance output and the other two have digital output, which I can use it with my hugo

My order of preference on those three:

1. A105
2. ZX300 《 No.1 if not needing streaming.
3. M11
