Does anyone know anything about the history here. It seems kind of unusual for Sony to release both a silver and a black version of the same player. The D-25 is the only other one that I know of. I was recently drooling over this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ry=19609&rd=1. I was going to bid on it but it didn't seem worth the bother when so many were selling on this side of the Atlantic. I didn't notice the color of it at that time. I don't know how I missed it.

Has anyone seen a player like this selling before? How rare are they? Am I going to have to wait years until I see one for sale again? It's difficult for me to buy a black one now that I know the silver ones are out there.

The black is common, the silver is uncommon...and then there's the gunmetal, which I have.

Hi strohmie, can you verify that the silver is not really the gunmetal?
Mine is neither (to my eyes), thanks!

I have seen images of the silver, gunmetal, and black and can tell you that the one I have certainly isn't silver and definitely isn't black. I have a picture comparing the black and gunmetal (see attached) but none with comparisons to the silver. I know they're different players though.
