After using PX100-II for many years, they have been discontinued... damnit. Which leads me to my search requirements:

1. No seal (pressure isolation from the outside)
2. Minimal leaking (for an office setting)... some is OK.
3. If circumaural, inside of cups don't touch my large-ish ears

In regards to 'no tight seal', I appear to be sensitive to the 'pressure chamber' that my ears experience with sealed headphones. I'm not entirely sure if anyone else experiences this... I've found a couple instances, but the lack of anecdotes make me wonder if this is all in my head (no pun intended).

I own a pair of Grados sr80e since yesterday, and I mostly love them (though I think I need to stretch out the headband a bit). However, without surprise, I can instantly tell they wouldn't work well in an office setting due the sound leakage.

If possible, I'm interested in piercing a hole in the ear cup (or inserting a thin tube like a needle? without accidentally piercing my ears?). While converting closed headphones to open may not necessarily make them leak an immense amount of sound (I'm borrowing my wife's PX200-II), I do understand this will change the sonic components. Hopefully this won't have a similar effect while still doing something for my (potentially) sensitive ears.

In short, any thoughts both theoretical (sonic and pressure predictions of a small hole) and practical?

Note: Very interested in porta-pros, but would like to keep my options open

Thank you! This has been a frustrating experience so far... looking forward to everyone's thoughts.

Update: Perhaps I need to give the headphones more time... my ears may be getting used to the pressure. Regardless, I'm still interested in everyone's thoughts on this matter.
