Now it's listed as a 6th generation player. I'm really curious what the chipset is for it.

Hi all, new here.  Because of this thread I have purchased the  AGPTek A06 and the AGPtEK A12 8GB Portable Clip Mp3 Player.  I have had the A06 for a while, and for what I needed it for it works great.  I just got the A12 yesterday, I'm looking for a Sansa Clip+ replacement with it.  So far I really like it.   But, stupid question: is there a place to get a more detailed instruction manual for the A12 online?  I ended up somehow getting loop (I think) turned on and could not for the life of me figure out how to get it turned off.  In desperation I finally went through the menu and did a factory reset first (which did not fix it) and then did a format (which did fix it)  Most of the choices on here are intuitive if you have ever used a Clip+ before, but some are not - for me at least.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!  Oh, and after I play with it some more I will be posting a review on Mobileread Forum and on Goodreads.  I know lots of people on there are searching for a Clip+ replacement.  They just aren't happy with the latest Sansa offerings.

@Silverraven - sorry if it's irrelevant but did you try installing Rockbox on A12 and is it Rockbox compatible? I heard about this model today and i'm very excited about it if it is.

Oh no, not irrelevant at all!  I honestly have no idea if Rockbox is compatible or not.  The first thing I want to do is check battery life on the stock firmware.  Unfortunately, I keep losing track of when I started/stopped it.  I have teflon brain today!!   I do find the Mode settings rather clunky, so unless they offer an updated firmware, and assuming Rockbox is compatible, then I might just try it.  I've never used it on a Sansa, I always found them fine for my use.  I mainly do audio books though, so my needs are probably way different from other people's.  One thing I do really like is folder play.  It makes keeping tracks in order much easier.  For me.  YMMV.
If anyone knows if Rockbox is available for the A12 please let me know!
Thanks!

Hello,

I would like to help you. Could you tell me where did you get loop? Which part of the manual do you think needing to improve? I work for AGPTEK.

Sorry guys, A12's chip is the same with Sansa Jam, so it doesn't support Rockbox.

Thank you,

Leo

Hi Peter,

it's HiFi DAP or not? 'cause i'm very interesting

I don't know about Hifi but it plays all popular formats (like WAV and FLAC) in addition to regular MP3. The sound is OK bit nothing more while the battery life is just amazing. Unfortunately mine died quite a while ago but I used it a lot when traveling due to the great battery :)

First of all, this is a nice little device for what I need it for.  I do prefer the feel of the case on the A06 to the A12 though.  It just feels better in my hand, less slick. But I love the separate volume control. The clip does feel more sturdy than the Sansa line, which is very nice.  I've broken off most of the clips from my Clip+s and Zips. I had them clipped to me and the slightest bump broke them.
When I have a file playing (which I choose through folder view, in case that matters) in the lower part of the screen there are two little squares.  One looks like vertical lines (which I am assuming is for to indicate I am using the equalizer) and the other has the letters RAN, at least I think that is what they are.  I have yet to figure out what that stands for.  When I was messing in the mode area I'm not even sure what I did, but I ended up with a box that said LOOP in between the other two.  I could not get rid of it.  I think the mode section is hard to figure out what you have turned on or not turned on.  I did do a format of internal memory from the menu and got rid of the LOOP box again. Factory reset did NOT get rid of it.  I dug out my magnifying glass and read the instructions and saw nothing in there about the Mode section, what the selections meant.  Maybe I overlooked it, my eyes aren't the greatest.  Age - I need bigger font.  An online instruction manual would be fabulous for us geezers out here.  And maybe some detail about:
         A. how to get to Mode. I intuitively want to find it under Settings, but it's not there.  Honestly, I'd have to play with it again to even remember where I did finally find it. I'm afraid to, might mess something up again.
         B. The on/off selection needs to be spelled out, and what each choice does.  I'm finding it clumsy.  Maybe it needs another level of choice?   Like click on Repeat All  and have to choose Yes/No? So I know for sure what I am choosing. There was one selection that had numbers, not even sure what that was for.  And I could never figure out what was no repeating of anything.
Yes, maybe I'm daft.  But I think if you want to really get this thing out there as a Sansa replacement it needs to be very intuitive. Sadly enough, I am probably more computer literate than many that use these players for audio books.   Not sure what your goal is though.
Sorry if this post rambles.  Trying to do 25million things at once!  If you need more info or if I didn't explain well, just ask and I'll try to be more clear.
