Hi all,
I already own the MS-2s, which IMO are Sr325s with slightly tamed highs and slightly better low-bass.
I have auditioned extensively the Grado Sr80, Sr225 and the Sr325.
I enjoyed the Sr225's lovely low-mid range, but somehow some excitement was missing. The Sr325s were great, but a little too fatiguing to listen to for extended (>1.5hr) listening periods.
I'll admit that the MS-2s were a gamble - I had ordered them, having never heard them before, in the hope that they would be, as everyone said, more 'neutral' Sr325s. Thankfully though, my gamble paid off (*).
But now I'm curious about the different sound signatures that wood and metal enclosures result in - what do the RS-1 and MS-Pro sound like compared to the 'phones I've listed above? Could anyone who has heard both headphones comment on their differences?
[size=xx-small]*: FWIW, I have never, never ever liked any headphone off the bat as much as I liked my MS-2s at first listen; more importantly though - over the weeks, my MS-2s have not only survived the wear-off of that dread syndrome known as Buyer's Delusion (where one finds that any new kit he/she purchases is audio ambrosia not because it is actually better but simply because it is different), they have actually managed to raise their standing in my affections.
