"Lawyer crowned Rock Paper Scissors champion..."

Story here

I could've totally owned that guy.

I saw last year's winner appear on Conan O'Brien. Conan challenged him to a match and beat him a couple of times and acted like it was a big deal since he was the "champion". It was hilarious.

I used to laugh at those people. Then I researched it. Now I laugh, but simultaneously marvel at their devotion to an essentially random sport.

Visit the World Rock Paper Scissors Society Web-Site:
http://www.worldrps.com/

The Advanced RPS section is outstanding

"Finally, it bears mentioning that there are also “Mystical Schools” of RPS. These instruct students to select their throw based on some inner force, higher power, or telepathic premonition. Such approaches vary so widely among themselves and results are so mixed (or mixed-up!) that there is no point in trying to catalogue or categorize them. Nevertheless, the well-trained RPS player will be aware that these schools exist and know their basic tenets."

My goodness, mystical schools of Rock, Paper, Scissor. What kind of a world do we live in?

But... do they do pre-game warmups? Tendon stretching and the like? Wouldn't want to pull something on your good hand, after all.

I liked this paragrahp on "democratic sport":

"People spend years trying to make it onto an NHL team or making it to the Olympics," he said. "Rock Paper Scissors is one of the most democratic sports in the world, where if you just show up to the world championships, then you can compete at the highest level that a sport has to offer."

Translation? "We have approximately 3 steady members. We need you."

Another possible translation: "You can also spend years of training on rock, scissors and papers but it won't make much of a difference."

Perhaps we should start a Head-Fi coin-flipping competition.

I'll have to get back to you; I'm burning in my quarters currently.

Another translation:

"People with no hands need not apply"

Unless of course there is a paraRPS society as well. Or maybe they can just yell there choice as the other player is "throwing" his.
