I got a new CD today "Count Basie and Sarah Vaughn" on the Roulette Jazz label.

I popped it in my player and was immediately taken back to the early 60's. Turns out I have heard these exact songs a hundred times or more. This was one of my Father's favorites. He had a huge jazz collection and this was one that he played all the time. I had no idea when I bought it.

Have you ever heard a song that transported you to another time and place?

I don't have anything that dramatic, but I was just listening to the Jimmy's Chicken Shack album Bring Your Own Stereo. My sister had borrowed it for a few months...years...Anyway, sitting here, D-2 on the desk, V6s on my head, a cool breeze in the room, just reminded me of all the peaceful times in high school, when I didn't have any homework, no problems with friends to worry about for a couple of hours. I never cared for the second half of that album, but it seems just right about now.
