After being here at head-fi for about a month, i think i have an idea of what i plan my rig to be like.
Portable: 20gig 4th.gen iPod-Sik Din-Headroom Airhead-Koss KSC 75
Home:Same but with either Grado SR 60s or SR 225s, depending on how much money i can get
Any suggestions,comments?

if you get the 225s (which are supposed to be awesome with rock especially), you might want to look into an amp for them. If you're on a real budget, look for a PIMETA, there are often used ones in the FS forum or contact JMT (a moderator and fantastic amp builder).

good luck and enjoy

From my experience with iPods and the KSC series, I don't think it's worth it to have a Total Airhead in between the two. There probably will be an increase in sound quality, but comparing the increase in SQ to the increase in wallet size and portability, I'd leave the TAH out of the equation. Looks fine portable wise though. Take note that I haven't had first hand experience with Headroom's amps before.

An amp for your ipod - rugged enough for portability, but powerful enough to do right by a home rig. Cost around $150? Hmm....I think I'd have to agree with everyone else and spend the whole hog on a decent home amp. The amps that do right by the home/away idea are amps like the supermono or sr-71, which are a bit pricey. It's better to get something just dedicated for the home imho. I can't personally vouch for any home amps in that price range, but what i've READ in that range is a fairly maxxed out Pimeta, or a headsave classic. IMHO an ipod won't need much better in terms of an amp, like a PPA or a tube amp.
