Here’s a special treat for thoughs seeking peace and solitude from the dragons of everyday life. Fellow Head-Fi member Orpheus was kind enough to send me an autographed copy of his album “Falling to Dreams.” Featuring nine instrumental songs with the piano forming the foundation with various other synthesized instruments filling in to make for a lush and incredibly spacious 3D soundstage that can only be appreciated fully listening through speakers. I was blown away by how totally the music immerses you like being surrounded by a vast cocoon with details flowing by high and low, near and far. I can’t think of any other album in my collection that so completely makes my speakers “disappear.”

Everyone perceives music in their own way and as for me this album, like the title implies, conjures up images of a dream-like journey floating through ancient rainforests to snow capped mountains down to a barren desert and under the sea swimming with whales on up to the clouds to a romp through the solar system, surfing on the rings of Saturn...Whoa, snap out of it. Good music does that to me…

I highly recommend this album particularly for thoughs who like “New Age” music though I would think just about anyone would find the music appealing in their own way. The Album cover does not list the tracks but fortunately the cd is text enabled. In case you don’t have a text capable cdp below are the track titles.

1. Introduction
2. Embrace
3. Living alone
4. With the Wind
5. Spoken
6. Crying
7. Lighter and Lighter
8. Triumph
9. Falling to Dreams

How might one purchase this CD? I notice it's not on Amazon...yet. Sounds like it'd be up my alley.

...this project is all for fun for me. it's my way of distribution: why rip the music off on kazaa when i'll mail them out for free!!! heh he....

anywhere in the world. just send me your name and mailing address exactly as i should print it on the package, and you should get it within a month.

well, not totally for free i guess.... i ask in exchange for you to leave me some comments via pm or email, and to tell your friends. that's it. if your friends want some too, same deal... name and address.

in case you were wondering, i estimate that i have sent about 300 CDs all around the world so far...

forget the internet as the future of music........ it's all about "You've Got Mail." ha ha.

I'd like to say ditto to everything squirt said in his review of Orpheus' CD. As stated, after a pm I got my autographed copy (in gold ink!) and quickly put it in my pcdp. Very relaxing music with flowing piano work. Thanks again Orpheus! Makes the trip here a worthwhile experience if only for discovering new music.

yup, all me. in fact... most songs were recorded about 5-7 years ago, while i was still a teenager, from one single synth straight to the computer. no other equipment used. i think that's the most impressive part about it. if you listen very carefully to the denser songs, you'll hear timing issues... that's cause everything was played back at one time--no digital multitrack recording. all MIDI. on some songs, there are more than 30 timbres being played at the same time. then it's recorded straight to 2-track on the computer. no processing. not cause i didn't want to... just cause i didn't have time nor the equipment. but despite the technical problems, i think most of the songs are quite enjoyable. i wrote music that sounded good to me... not to imitate others, nor to fit into some genre.... just pure Dean music.

but in the last 7 years, my skills have vastly improved...... wait 'till you guys see the next CD!!!--it will be professionally mastered and all that jazz..... right now, i'm also producing music for timschrimer's friend, Veronica Sorrow:

http://www.bubastis.com/XXSoRRoWXX/

her song was featured on the movie Raindeer Games... and one of our demos was recently played on the radio on the east coast...

anyway... it's all for fun... maybe you Goths on this board can support her when we are done.

yup...... so, for all those who have sent me messages, i'll try to get all the CDs out by tuesday... that way if anything happens, i still can send you another copy before i go to china in 2 weeks...

This album really is an incredible piece of work. When my copy arrived I immediately popped it in. I was listening to speakers when my wife arrived home. She is always fatigued, always out of breath, always in need of some TLC and R&R when she gets home on a Friday. Well Orpheus' music was going strong and my wife dropped on the couch and listened, cried at one point, then requested I crank it up while she took a hot soak in the tub. She listens to this album once a week at least.

Orpheus sorry I never said thanks for the album. It was a busy time when it arrived and I just lost track of my manners. Sorry about that. Great stuff man, great stuff.

hey...

just to let you guys know, i shipped ALL the requests made up to today. man... took me 2 hours to print and package everything! and that doesn't include the time it takes to burn them all on my ghetto 5 year old 4x burner!

but i had one problem... the toner on my printer ran out, so many of the prints were fading. i also didn't print the back of the inserts to save ink on some of the CDs. sorry.... just had too many CDs to print over the last year. even my special gold and silver pens ran out of ink!!!... so i even signed the CDs smaller than i usually do to save enough ink to do all the CDs!!!

anyway... hope you guys like music--it's the music that counts after all.

hmm.... since my goal is to have everyone in the world hear my music... i wonder how much toner and how many pens i need to make 8 billion CDs?

Maybe you should think on mailing the artwork directly to the members who want the CD, by email and everyone print his own, this way you will save all the ink, just sign the CD and ask for any email address and that's it....BTW look in here for toners and ink, pretty cheap and very good service....

yeah, i would.... but most people probably don't have the appropriate cardboard inserts. also, different brands have their inserts positioned differently on the sheets.... and blah blah blah. but good concept anyway.....

i think the thing to do is have my music mastered at a real facility.... it's not too expensive: i think like the cheaper places charge like $25/song or $500/album for standard mastering. and some will make 1000 copies for $1000. dunno how much the big time mastering studios charge.... but $1500 isn't too bad for 1000 professional CDs. that way i could get better professional sound quality...... but em........ i ain't rich, so it's gonna have to wait. but when i finish my next CD, it will definitely be mastered and professionally made....
