It's time to expose those secret treasures you have buried in your collection. That one album that is so great, you just can't believe that no one else has it or talks about it.

Off the top of my head, I would like to recommend a really great noisy rock record from '94: Motionless by Chokebore. Check it out!

I saw these guys open up for Nirvana in a small hockey rink in Vancouver and they just rocked. Lead singer is a total nut job. Great stuff.

I'm gonna pick three.

GOOD:
Djivan Gasparian's "I Will Not Be Sad In This World". Armenian Duduk Music. Released to support the Armenian 1988 earthquake.

BAD:
Code Blue's "Don't Squeeze the JUICE" EP. A 1995 release featuring 5 dance edits of a song in support of O.J. Simpson.

INTERESTING:
Alessandro Moreschi's "Complete Recordings". From 1904, they're the only castrato recordings in existence.

I guess they're all disaster related.

ahh yea, Chokebore.. great band. I saw them on the "Cluster***** 94" Amphetamine Reptile tour with Today is the Day and Guzzard. They were kinda the "new school" of bands at the time.. Anything Near Water is another good one. Thems was the days..

a few of my hidden gems would be:

God Machine - Scenes from the Second Storey one of the darkest, most intense albums ever.

Elysian Fields - Bleed Your Cedar space lounge jazz

Concussion Ensemble - Stampede (sort of a Boston-area indie instrumental supergroup.. great straight up rock without
vocals)

Craw - Lost Nation Road Cleveland math-rock band.. if you dig the Jesus Lizard or Helmet or Rodan or Dazzling Killmen (all bands they played with bagginda day), get yerself some Craw.. this one would be difficult to find, but their new album is on Hydrahead records..

ok I'm done

I've only seen Sting's best of cd in one other place except my own which I find very surprising since it's one of the best cds ever as far as I'm concerned. Just about every song is from the top shelf of Sting's career 1984-94 (which is the very idea of a best of cd of course, but I find it's rarely so). Another gem I've found recently I've mentioned in this thread.

My gem is Forgotten Places by James Johnson and Robert Scott Thompson. This album is absolute pure beauty; shimmering musical scenes evoke a feeling of sheer awe. Get a good amp and some nice headphones and dive into this album! Info here.
