Maybe it's a fake review as well.
The power of the feedbacks are quite impressive on the sells but I think that it's impossible to achieve the 98% of the sound quality within a very limited budget.
The Sennheiser IE 800 S are the end game for me. I will never try a new iem except if it's made by Sennheiser, of course.
The right price for the high quality sound gear, without any exaggeration of the need to put 12 BA drivers per side.
The single dynamic driver of the IE800/IE800S scares all the competitors in the world.

I don't know if we can actually call them fakes...

If the product bears the Sennheiser logo and isn't authentic Sennheiser, then it's a fake because it's designed to pass itself off as something it's not. Whether or not the seller discloses that fact has no bearing on the product's status as a fake.

They are selling the Sennheiser IE800S at 699€. Price is convincing but....

I've always been curious about these, they are very sexy IEMs. They look flimsy though and according to reports they are not very good when it comes to isolation. Still...

I find them to isolate quite well - about as well as or better than any other round silicone-tip, non-custom IEM. That said, olive-shaped, silicone tips are about as non-isolating as you get, at least on IEMs that depend on a seal for optimum sound (as opposed to, say, Apple AirPods, that just sit in your ear). Silicone flanges, compression foam tips, and active noise-canceling are all better at shutting out noisy environments. If you plan to wear them in noise-prone areas, the IE800S might not be the best choice. But I find them to isolate just fine overall - better than I expected, based on the reports I read prior to buying them. Their fit is also quite secure, at least for me. I don't find them to be flimsy, either. They're lightweight and comfortable, and as long as you don't subject them to a lot of physically rigorous use, they hold up fine.

For me the isolation provided by the IE800S is quite good, I would say it is the best that I ever tried among the in-ear's that I owned.
I use the standard silicone eartips M size. I think that the isolation is quite subjective, depending on your ear channel, size, shape and tip diameter match.

I'm looking to upgrade and am in doubt between these or the Xelento.
I've been using Klipsch's X10's the past three years and really like the tiny design without ear loop, which is where the IE800s have a plus.

I've got a sony NW-Zx300. Again a plus for the Senns as they come with a 4.4 mm cable.
But I do like a punchy sound too with snappy treble. And some reviewers state that the IE800s are more analytical, lacking pleasure...

I would love to hear some honest opinions.

The Xelento sound amazing, sometimes borderline magical but fit can be a big issue as getting a proper seal (that stays put) can prove really hard, so there's a lot of tip rolling involved. They are super easy to drive though, so you won't even need to put them on the balanced out.

IE800S is very smooth and laid back not analytical at all but while still having more detail than a lot of other items. The problem is they can lack a little excitement so maybe pair them with a brighter source for a good match.

I've read diagonally through this thread and I just can't grasp how they sound. Ok, detailed yes. But are they beefy enough? Some say the mids are recessed. Others say the mids are more balanced than the former IE800.

All very confusing to me. I would trial them but I have yet to find a store in the vicinity that allows this...

The Cure -Pornography (focus on aggressive drumming and razor blade guitar tones)
The Smiths- The Queen is dead (focus on warmth of Morriseys voice and twinkle guitar sounds)
Leif Ove Andsnes - Chopin (piano...)
Sufjan Steven's- Carrie and Lowell ( focus on letting the diminutive background shine without overtaking Sufjans vocals)
The Wrens - the Meadowlands (focus on respecting the intended distortion of the album)

They don't sound like other iems they sound like open back headphones. The sound is resolving, smooth, balanced, effortless.
