Medium round silicone

That's a good sign. For my ears, the Tia fourte and Andromeda (and Rhapsodio Galaxy v2) require foam tips to sound their best.

Have you tried Symbio eartips? It's the best of both worlds, memory foam on inside, silicone on outside. Those only sold on ebay, btw. Come in wide and standard models, each one in S/M/L. Actually, fits IE800S quite well, grips its short nozzle secure.

is still 2.5mm but now is balanced.

new plug - 800s

Old plug - 800

I think he meant it as being a little deceiveing from the picture, 2.5mm looking as big as 3.5mm :)

I shared these before, the Y-splitter one is 2.5mm TRRS (zoomed in a picture). It has to be terminated balanced in order to go from Balanced to Balanced (2.5mm to 2.5mm or 2.5mm to 4.4mm), and you can also go from Balanced to Single Ended, but not the other way around.

On the IE800S I wouldn’t want the complys sucking up the awesome highs.

That's just it, the otherwise excellent tia fourte needs foams to attenuate the treble issues. I want an earphone that asks you to hear all the treble it has to offer.
