You could look at it as the differences between the new and old model IE800 are like HD800 to HD800S.
Precisely the improvement I was hoping for. I hope we get some measurements soon!

Having another long listening session again tonight, it’s so easy to get lost in the sound the IE800S create, so many layers, textures and details.

I've had my eye on the IE800 since the original arrived and now they (originals) are going new for £530, compared to the £800+ of the S.

Not one for going for previous iterations, but I'd be less likely to cause irrevocable damage to my relationship if I went for the formative model

But... the new ones are new...

Decisions...

Btw, after overnight burn in, that 10k peak really shows it's presence. Takes a minute for my brain to adjust due to how vivid and forward it is. Not a negative thing and doesn't sound fatigue, just different from all of my other IEMs in review collection. VERY UNIQUE sound tuning for sure, and the bass is very articulate, textured, punches through with an authority and full control.

wow , this chart is extremely helpful ,
This one gives you the whole picture......for those of us who cannot breath "air" above 11khz.....a 10khz peak consisting of almost inaudible diminishing harmonic overtones will never be heard : (

Maybe the techs at Sennheiser are as old as myself (if they're allowed to work past retirement)...and they believe the phones actually sound closer to this..... lol.... : )
