On the topic of customs vs universals, two questions about the market in general - to test if 64 is being singled out or if it’s a wider issue.....

Firstly, do other CIEM brands make universal demo versions available for testing e.g., loan units or for retailers, and do these sound markedly different to the end result?

And secondly, where there are other brands that have custom and universal versions of the same IEM (eg. EE LX or VE Elysium) are there known to be differences in sound between the two versions?

I believe that is just the Pelican 1150 with the bottom foam piece removed to fit those cases. We showed that in the video mainly to display the convenience of the G10 case. I would definitely recommend the 1150 if you want something of that size.

It does fit the larger Silver Premium Cable as well as a Dragonfly Red

Maybe a larger sized hockey puck case would be also a neet option. Also make in aluminum so it will resist shock and water.
With internal soft damping? To offer pillow comfort to the iems!

And make sure you can easily fit in an custom 8wire cable and 1 pair of iems.

That too me sounds like an ultimate do it all and go to anywhere case!

I also still prefer the stock ear tips with my Fourte after trying so many aftermarket ear tips. I have not found one that sounds as good and balanced as the stock tips. I believe 64 Audio have taken into detailed consideration of the ear tips impact on the result of intended sound tuning.
I prefer the Azla Sedna short lights to the stock tips. We are all a bit different, probably allot different when it comes to tips.

Me too. One of the concerns I have with stock tips is closeness to the nozzle. I know it’s an intentional design decision but prefer the additional space I have with the Sedna as well as the JVC Spiral Dot.

Having said that I should give stock tips a go again with a small spacer.

Eartips can play a roll in tuning the sound. For the xelastecs are not as smooth and they feel brighter and bites in treble with a sharper attack. Yes they fit well and dont slide but not the best synergie for me

There is none I found that sounds as good and balanced as the stock 64a silicon.
Here what I did I cut out a cylinder eartip of a comply foam and did a perfect trim to fit flush and not too fat, so it sits naturally inside the tip.

You can see its almost same size of the internal diameter... It doesn't make ear canal pressure either cause I made sure to not compress it inside and leave room for letting it to contract and detract.
The bottom is flush with the rubber bore.

The results are best available isolation and comfort. It is important to trim accordingly to each eartip size!

One thing I can't modify is the slippery tip he, after many hours 0f ware it get all waxy waxy and it rotates and slides. Maybe some smooth gentle grooves on the hat could help to prevent this?

This by far my best work and its so solide its like a genuine hybrid 😁🤩

Interesting, I actually just did this after seeing your picture to some tips, and it is an interesting fit.

I find the Xelastics a pain as they are so sticky. I do very much better sound wise with the Sedna shorts.

I chosen comply foam for this cause they have the best foam reaction with skin warmth. This becomes even more comfortable cause the comply foam has a fast reactive process when in contact with warmth of the body. It gets softer when warmer.

What happens then is that it will shape it self to the exact shape of your ear canal!
Resulting in a better isolation and comfort for extremely long sessions!

This why I made sure when I trimmed it so it has the ability to contract and detract. ( We can call it the breathing effect )

Our Universal demo IEMs are built to sound like the custom versions of those IEMs. Since the universal fitting demo unit sit further out of the ear canal they have to be tuned slightly different to accurately represent the way the custom IEM will sound when it sits further in the ear. They are also tested completely differently, it is not as easy as it may seem to accurately measure audio products like these. When measured properly the measurement tolerances between the universal demo and the custom IEM are extremely tight.
So the universal demo IEMs sound different than the universal IEMs, correct? Since they are demo versions of the custom IEMs, if someone is interested in purchasing a custom 64 Audio IEM, it would be best to request an audition of the demo unit, since that would most accurately reflect the sound of the custom unit.

On the topic of cases that fit multiple IEMs, pick and pull foam can really go a long way.

You're referring to the U12t and U18t compared to the A18t and A12t demo? The Universal demo and retail units are the same

Let's keep the stock case as is. LoL

Offer a nicr big one with multiple cuts as accessorie for the crazy ones. Or even for bands that carry multiple IEMs setups.

Aluminium gets dented easily, the pelican/nanuk are the most resistant. (Not the cheap fake ones, those are thin and easy to open/crack)
