I forgot to link the site! Link will be down below here. Due to their testing, its measures better than several high end DAPs. Same can be said at ASR also. They measured it to be quite excellent being a portable.

Even some owners of high end DAPs who owns the LG thinks its really good.

My problem is that i cant find shops in my country to try DAPs to find out myself. What i have tried on local used market: A&K 70, 120 and Ibasso dx160. And it was a downgrade.

Why do you f.ex think m11 is better than V40?

Anyway: The U12T with M20 filter is so fun and i really love the subbass. Hands down best IEM ive tried to date and the most comfortable one. Custom tips is also ordered. It will be hard to use an IEM without APEX in the future.

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly are they measuring? Because it's not music.

This is off-topic for this thread, so I'll be brief, but if you're picking a DAP based on measurements (especially if you're using ASR as a reference), the only advice I can give you - since you can't demo these DAPs yourself - is to get advice from experienced users on this forum. Picking a DAP based on measurements is like picking a car based on colour.

Here are some useful links to threads where you can ask questions about specific DAPs. That would be a better starting point than here. Good luck.

Thanks :) But ive actually bought symbios a few months ago and was really excited to try them. But honestly, they are very uncomfortable for me. Ive ordered the hybrid ones though, with foam. Theyre way to hard.
Something you might want to try is using the foam from the smaller size on your size, or just taking it out altogether.

You will not necessary find mid-tier DAPs an upgrade, especially if you're honest with yourself and do a blind test. Difference with iems like u12t just isn't as big as some people here make it to be.

If you can afford it and are willing to experiment, get a used higher end DAP, this way you can resell it without a big loss if you don't like it.

Funny about the timing of this question, even so it is off topic :) Someone forwarded to me the same link, totally confused about the meaning of those DF-measurements (?!?) and asking me how come $90 M0 dap is rated as high as Hugo 2 and A&K SP2000 has the same measurement as apple lightning adapter they got free with their iPhone. People who are new to this hobby and used to looking at consumer-report like recommendations based off some rating list, will be totally confused because I was literally asked if buying high end gear is a waste of money and they should just stick to their $0.50 apple lightning adapter dongle because it has the same DF-measurement as A&K SP2000 flagship. SMH

And likewise, please excuse my ignorance and in no way am I dismissing the work going into taking those measurements, but even after reading about the meaning behind DF-measurements I'm still not quite sure how it will be relevant in picking a new DAP.

But anyway, back on topic of 64 Audio and waiting to find out about the new releases :D

My own experience with DAPs:

Really cheap / ghetto ones: Borderline electronic trash. Not that much of a sonic difference to justify the poor battery life / horrid GUI / weight. The good point is that they're cheap enough to throw around with keys and coins, and you would not cry inside if they broke. I have a Zishan DSD that I might use as soldering practice one day. In its defense, I'd say it still sounds better than smartphones. Marginally. Wireless earbuds are quickly chasing up to this level.

Mid-Fi ~ High-Fi: Definitely better than smartphones. Something like WM1A. Resolution increases 3-fold. Layering and instrument separation begins to exist. The increase in sound quality start to justify the niche of carrying a block of metal in your pockets. That being said MOST DAPs are still mind bogglingly big and heavy.

TOTL flagships: Things like AK SP2000 yes. TOTL-level resolution and authority. Not only does music sound clear, there is now a gracefulness in its presentation. This is not a burger joint but a cuisine. The DAP is usually both revealing and warm. Commonly comes with a phethora of gimmicks.

All 3 are very different, better be chosing by what signature you like and what you will listen...

I heard mest didnt really like it to shouty and fatiguing in the treble somewhere.

Trio is awesome, u12t is more relaxed then trio. More balanced.

Trio is full fun loved it.

What dap you playing it on and what music type?

I think the Trio is the sound I'm looking for. I would love to listen to all 3 and decide, but that isn't an option right now. I don't think I am looking for the reference sound of the U12t. I do like the MEST, but it doesn't blow me away. I like how tall the soundstage sounds, but I would like it to be bigger and more 3D. I think I would like the DD in the Trio more than the BA bass in the U12t, mids are the same I assume, and highs are more tuned on the Trio to be more sparkly.

I listen to everything: 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, 20s, rock, alternative, classical, older country, EDM, hip-hop, r&b, OSTs...my library is filled with a lot of things. I also plan to use them while gaming for accurate imaging.

My current setup is ifi hip-dac/chord mojo/topping L30 and E30/topping A50s and D50s. My source has been Tidal Hifi/Masters. That's another thing, I’m not sure my sources will show off the full potential of each IEM and it will be "wasted" and I'd be better sticking to the BLON BL01. I considered getting a DAP, but I'm not thrilled at buying my whole library over again, plus ive been streaming Apple Music for a while too, so not the best source there.

To me its quiet easy I would rec the Trio in your case. Mest is really good I heard that iem it has very high technicalities and details are very big. But I found mest fatiguing and annoying in the long run and it is not the most refined sound either. No matter how good your first impression will be in the long run you will find it is not a flagship sound. I might even step a head and tell you maybe go for nio then mest....

U12t will not provide you the bass of trio the reall dd fun and deliciousness bass is only on trio. U12t will have more mids cause they seems to be closer or more forward in comparison to trio.
Thats true trio has a sparkly treble and I find it very neet as it gives a more fun and emotional experience.

It doesnt matter to what you hook any of those 3 iems it will be the same sound performance comparison.

Go for nio if money is tight and you seem to be worried that the source will not provide the quality to meet the iem level. Or invest in Trio and buy a good mid tier or high tier dap like M8 or dx300 and you will enjoy the trio way more and you will also have all the streaming godess available anytime 😁.
