Hey -- has anyone tried the DHC Clone Fusion cable with u18 or a18?

https://www.headfonia.com/review-dhc-clone-fusion/2/

Sounds like it's great with Fourte and things that are great with that tend to not be great with u18. But still, it's a gorgeous cable and a copper sound that doesn't sacrifice clarity and treble seems to be a great fit for u18. Thinking this could be a sane-priced competitor for pw audio 1960 for that u18 boost...

Have not update it yet. I am using the Luker firmware so wonder if there is any update on that? It seems that we are very similar in gears and preferences in sound too. :)

Lurker said that this will be complicated so not to expect anything soon. It will take him a little bit of time but he did not give any projected date.
rq1111, I think Lurker must have worked his butt off because he's got something that is working for many others so far. Go check out the DX200 thread.

BTW, my N8 was sent to the wrong shop on Saturday. Now it's at the shop that I purchased it from so I'm going there now to pick it up. Getting anxious with my first CIEM. Pictures similar to yours to come. :)

Hi Rayzilla, thanks! I saw that in Dx200 too.

Hope to see the twins too! :)

They look gorgeous! Is that a redwood burl faceplate?
I remember 'red' being a part of the name so that must be it. It sounds s good as I remember the demos to be. I'm going to 'burn them in' the natural way, with my music and my ears. I don't expect to 'hear' the difference during this process, if there is any since it would be such a slow process. I'm sticking with AMP1, the stock amp for about a week before switching to a better amp module.

Enjoy your N8! You will have sleepless night. :)

Tonight, I just switch to Amp8 to try what Twister mention using Amp8 with filter 1. So far, for short listening, the bass is still good. It is not as what i expect to be bassy and veil. It is clear, deep and wide sounding with very good bass texture.

Using my N8 also good pairing with my Wm1a after the software upgrade which makes wm1a more clear and clean sounding dap. Thinking of terminating to 4.4mm jack but still monitor it as i am waiting for my Opus 2 to return from RMA to see if my N8 is good pairing with Opus 2.

Enjoy your night! Rayzilla.

I just went to test sp1000m. Sp1000 and sr15 with my N8. I did not test long enough but a very short test with these daps.

As the sp1000m is new so it is not burn-in. I hear that it is more warm than sp1000. Sp1000m seems similar sound as my wm1a after the firmware upgrade for my wm1a. Warm yet the treble is more sparkle. It is not smooth treble. More likely, the sp1000m is not burn-in so that is what I hear.

As for sp1000, the treble has more resolution and smooth. The bass is not overwhelm like wm1a or sp1000m. More 3d than sp1000m.

For sr15, surprisingly I like this pairing. The overall sound is like dx200 which I like. The sound is like dx200 with amp 8.

Among 3 ak daps, I like sr15 with my N8. I was thinking of sp1000m but did not expect sr15 is good pairing with my N8. Might go back to try again when I have time.

Out of the box and relative to SPK, SPK M treble is smoother and mids have a little more body. Will see if anything changes after burn in.

The thing with the AK device is that, does it have enough juice to really get the N8 to perform well? In terms of power output i do not see the AK SK1k series as being the most powerful players out there, and the N8 does scale very well when you feed it with more juice.

To illustrate, I thought the N8 sounded a little dull on the SP1K copper, lifeless for lack of a better word. It improved when switched over to the 1Z. I've not had time to test it on the new LPG touch, but I have high expectations for it. Same goes too for the new cayin player.

The N8 too seems to react to cable pairing too. I had a effect horus cable lying around that I thought I might use with it since I thought it might it a little bit more transparency, but it totally threw the signature off. To me, good ole' copper seems to go best with the N8.

In short, the N8 seems remarkably sensitive to gear changes. I did not experience this large a change when trying out other iem demo units, and I honestly find myself a little surprised that changing cables could make that much of a difference.

Which means now that I once again dont have a use for that horus cable. Bought it on a whim based on the brand reputation and hype, and I regret it. Maybe I should look into selling it rather than let it collect dust.

Has anyone used the N8 with a desktop amp? Even a small one? I'm wondering if the additional power over a regular DAP or portable amp will scale and produce even better sound. I asked a 64 audio rep which IEM I should go with and told the person what type of music I listen to and was recommended the A12t and others have told me the same thing, but I have liked hybrids in the past so I still could change my mind if there's more reviews that make me feel that the N8 would suit me better.

Does anyone here know if the qdc 2-pin connection will work with the N8? I have one of their 4.4 cables.

I know there is supposed to be something quirky about them being reversed in some way. So just wondering if they can still pair together.
