I agree with you. Cut my losses and move on. We all have one buy that goes bad. I got a really good trade offer I could not say no to. The Nio is great and the new owner will love them. I offered up the Fourte, Trio and Nio and was suprised he did not take the Trio as the Nio I had all the modules for and could tune it depending on my mood. I got over $2300 worth of IEMs for the Nios including a CA iem which is my first. Going to keep the Trio. I still am really loving the KSE. Fallen in love with extreme detail. Have to use right tips and EQ. If you have Wavelet try FiR M5 setting out on your Trio which I discovered by accident because I was using that with the Kse on my Dap.
Good that you got a good deal. Leaving aside out different experiences and perspectives about Fourte, I would personally consider Trio to be a much better performing IEM than Nio (by direct comparison - without discounting this latter, ultimately it is still way better than most other IEMs on the market).

Have Power Equalizer and a pretty versatile Eq on my Neutron player on my phone (Apo eq on my laptop + an external Behringer graphic EQ on my desk audio chain) .. will give it a try eq-wise albeit I tend not to use presets but just to tweak sound to my liking.

You have heard a fully functional Fourte. I have not but it's OK. The bass on Fourte was working and I like that Trio has more sub bass and hits harder. Fourte is too held back for my music collection. With the M5 setting it sounds even better to my ears. I have not EQed 64 audios in past but with KSE it's fun to try different ones. U16t at 50% does not sound bad on KSE. Have you tried the Velvet wide bores? I ordered some.

Have two fully functional Fourte. Like it so much to have a spare in case 64A stops fixing them or producing them. Found a good deal a while back and I decided to stock it up.
With a bit of patience you will have you fully functional Fourte back soon too...

Between the two, Trio has indeed more sub-bass (something that can be somehow compensated with a bit of EQ being mindful not to push Fourte's DD beyond its operating capacity as it would be a quick way to break any driver) and it is faster / hits harder. These two points are something that cannot be easily replicated with other IEMs, would assume it is due to the characteristics of the driver..

Love my Trio's bass too but I find that Fourte has slightly more detail, a much wider sound stage and a bit better technicalities in general. So at the end. like for most things in life, it is about having to compromise and enjoy what we have. We are both lucky to have the chance to have both models and be able to compare in all cases ...
Keep in mind that Trio (together with IE900, Z1R and very few other models) is regarded as having one of the best ever bass in the IEM industry.

Have Velvet wide bore... they sound good for the type of sound I am after. Practically like Coreir without the glaring on cymbals (something that to my ears sound pleasing as it gets the sound closer to a "live" listening) but incredibly comfortable...

I am looking forward to trying the wide bores. I like the regular ones. I am not getting the Fourte back. 64 Audio will ship to US buyer directly. At least I can cut some of my losses as return shipping is part of warranty and afraid it will break on me again haha. It was bad timing that I bought the Kse while the Fourte was in the shop so was able to quickly see some differences or I might have decided to keep the Fourte. For me it does not match the detail of KSE. I listen to trance most of the time and there is a lot of detail that are put into mixes so need a very detailed IEm.

I am lucky I got a good deal on the Trio. I did not know it was one of the top in bass. To my ears the m5 setting makes the Trio halographic a lucky find, a must try. Sounds amazing with Trance. Try Hiver and Hammer Fusion 2006 original mix.

Good that you have your Fourte saga solved. Enjoy your Trios and KSAs. At the end once we have found whatever IEM that match our preferences, it the music that should matter, not the hardware.
Given your preference for trance music, I am not surprised that you preferred Trio to Fourte ... deep fast hitting, slamming and yet controlled bass may make the difference in your case.. In all cases Trio is a one of the best IEMs in the market (albeit oddly often underrated).

Very underrated. I agree with you. Between Trio and KSE I really don't need any other IEMs but got 5 new ones coming. Resale on Nio is not very good as well. There are two other Fourtes listed. At this point it's about fun and experiencing something different. I do wish I held onto my U12ts. They and Trio are the best 64 makes to my ears anyway. The Noir sounds like it would have been a better match but no longer made.

Good for the industry that there is people like you keeping buying stacks of IMEs :) my end-game-only approach to IEMs has been intentional to get out of the "keep buying stacks" loop...

As you already pointed out the Trio is better than Nio so why do i need both? Eventually I would want to sell the Nio and would have taken a huge loss. One of the IEMs alone cost what I paid for the Nio and you are active in that thread which I will be joining very soon. My intent was to try and trade the Fourte. I have my end games already. Except for Nio (that was 35% off) and TW2 was all my gear had been bought used so have spent far less than many here and have some really good gear. Fourte was bad luck and a lesson to be learned. Could have returned for 100% refund.

In this hobby, "better" is relative. What is better for you may not be so for me ... there are some of us who really prefer Nio to other IEMs. All is relative despite the prevailing views of experts reviewers whose perspectives can be taken as (relative) references.
The above goes for preferences as well as how many IEMs any of us may like to keep .. end game or not so much end game...

Aside from that we all make questionable purchases from time to time, or just have not so good luck .. it just happens...

I agree with you and that is why we all have choices in gear and of course music. What we like can change which is good for the industry but there comes a time when we have to settle for what we already have or go broke. There will always be something new but that does not make it better. One of the things I love about the Kse is it takes to EQ like no other since it does not have BA or DD etc but there is a price to pay in having to have an energizer/Amp to run it. Many that is a huge no go. I can get an idea of how an IEm sounds with it without having to spend any more money.

Someone needs to start a leasing company where you can lease an iem for a month and then get something else or buy it. There is so much waste in this hobby because people either can't demo gear long enough/properly or get bored and want something new. Leasing is the answer.

The Nio is a great Iem. I enjoyed it a lot. With the bass controlled with the red atom it can hold its own technically.

Sorry for all the Fourte drama. I traded with someone so that chapter is now closed. They got what they want and so did I. There is a set of Trios in classifieds. Very good price and looks in good condition and comes with another cable + stock. $1050. I would offer $1k if anyone is looking. Trio is one of the best IEMs 64 makes which is why I am keeping mine.

Anyone that has a Trio and maybe other models should try SpinFit W1 tips. These have transformed my Trio into a different IEM. The details and stage are so much better and bass hits harder too. Highly recommend. They are only $9 from Amazon for 1 pair.

Agreed with you, there is something special about Trio, being technical and fun at the same time, when I owned it I use Spiral Dot ++ tips, you should try it also. :L3000:
