Yeah, I struggled with this decision for weeks. Literal agony. I am happy and I feel like for me I made the right call with the a18t. It also cures my upgradeitis, since it's more annoying to sell customs and you bond with them faster.

Hahaha this is excruciatingly painful. I really like Fourte and now after these custom ear plugs I think I’d love those better.. Can A18 be remolded if I want to sell them later?

Can I get them both is the question??????
Mortgage paid... check...
Rental properties in order... check
Kid guitar lessons paid for.. check
Car note paid... check
Insurance paid....check
Tithes & offering put to the side... check
Savings in order.... won’t be if I get both

I mean one would really need to make sure life is in order before buying these babies hahahahaha...
Of course you can remold it. But the cost isnt cheap. $699 for A18.

Wow, didn’t think it would be that expensive. If I can sell about 1500-1800 work of something I’m good... I gotta sell my sennhsier HDV820 or my Hugo 2 but boy oh boy are both really good. Decisions...

If I get both these they’ll be my end game for the next 4-6 years. This hobby too expensive to keep up with.

Hugo 2
Focal Utopia
Sennheiser HD800S (miss these badly)
Astell&Kern SP1000
Fourte
Tzar

Hahaha will power right... when I started looking for IEM’s I didn’t even imagine spending over 1300 (Ultimate Ears UE18+ Pro) then some how my eyes crossed 64audio thread... I’m way off from where I started.

Does anyone here have Ultimate Ears UE 18+ Pro and Tzar? If so, would you be happy with just UE 18+ Pro after hearing both.

I have the A18t and the original UE 18 pro. While the UE 18+ is probably different, I would expect the tonality to be similar.

I think the UE 18 is the ultimate warm CIEM. It's not nearly as warm as the original A12 which I think it too much - but warmer than the A18t.

The A18t, to my ears, is a significant step up from the UE 18 in terms of resolution, soundstage, and overall tonality (the latter being more based on preference). That said, I think the UE 18 is a fantastic CIEM (especially out of the Opus #2), and plays well with all genres.

I would not want to go back to the UE 18 after getting accustomed to the A18t - but I'd imagine the UE18+ has made advances in some of the areas mentioned. If the UE18+ is what you can afford, you are still getting a very high quality CIEM.

Please note: I haven't heard the A12t - which is more along the lines of the sound signature of the UE18 from how it's described.

With the string of (well justified) U18 & A18 lovefest posts over the last few days it seemed good to chime in with another opinion:

Almost all of my listening time is spent with the Tia Fourte, even though I have the A18.

I'm torn between the Fourte and A18t. Could you please provide me with your own personal opinion of both? It will be very much appreciated.

The Forte is really great. It’s one of the most unique headphones out, bar none.

The u18t is a more typical BA tuning, just taken to a level I didn’t imagine possible for IEMs. Resolution is truly insane to my ears. They’re Utopias with bass that I can wear on a plane, bus, mowing the lawn, driving in the convertible with the top down (ADEL sucked for this - the sloshing and wooshing noise got very annoying), washing my car, walking my dog, at my desk working, etc. The flexibility of one pair of amazing IEMs for me makes it possible to only own one headphone. That’s why I went this route.

If you have other headphones I can see why the Forte would be preferred but as an all rounder the u18 is hard to beat. :)
