Hows it compare to the stock G.E. 12au7 and Phil 5687:

Good for music types:

Bad for music types:

major thing's that caught your attention:

tube tonal sound (tube your desrcibing):

and if you could include tube tonal sound that would be great as well. I love lush sounding amps so I will roll the tubes that way.

I got a pair of sylvannia 5963 this morning. Haven't had time to try them are they any good? I nearly fell over when I had to pay £5 for them.

This is a great thread because I am at a loss as to what tubes to pick up. Ray had sent some RCA's with the demo I had and I found them to be on the lush side. Hopefully, Ray will bring some to roll next week.

I'm with Pinkie here. Looking for warm and lush. So far, I've found the RCA's to be a tad bright for my taste. To date, the Amperex give me the most warmth. I've yet to hear the Sylvania's and Mullards though. Wonder what the Tung Sols might hold?

example quick is...

Source: Meridian g08
Interconnects: MIT term3 rca
Headphones: Senn hd600's with cardas
Any tweaks: tightropes and nordost pulsar points on the g08, islo pads on the raptor
12au7: Electro-Harm new
5687: Old school Tung-sol black plates

Hows it compare to the stock G.E. 12au7 and Phil 5687: way more sloppy, less detail and dynamic's but has a lushy lushy tube sound

Good for music types: Opera seems to be a thrown out male voice, throws him out more infront. the the instruments are farther away on you sides.

Bad for music types: Anything the requires deep bass, the bass is more filled into then seperate. mushy warm but not as impactful

major thing's that caught your attention: can listen for alittle longer then usually, less of the solid-state sound of the stock tubes and alot of the tubey dirty sound we all come to love

tube tonal sound (tube your desrcibing): the electro harm and the tungsols again seem to be a mushy, sloppy, and just messing sounding.

I should be getting some tung sols next week with Rca's, mullards and Brimar. Who knows how they will work out? The lush ones stay, the neutalish and bright ones go. Sometimes, not often it pays to live in the UK...

Got 7 tubes in yesterday to add to the maybe 12 I already have. I have to take some time to post some notes. RCA clear tops are great, only tried them for about 15 min yesterday but they sure stand out. Billy, I have two of them if you want one.

Voice of Music by Westinghouse long black plate square getter, is also interesting sounding. Matsu****a was very bad but maybe its do to low readings. Very condensed sound with now extension in both ends. Instruments are sort of cut off with no decay.

Hopefully I will find some time threw the long weekend to do some listings and maybe post some.

They are great sounding very warm and lush. I have two deferent Sylvania's and they do sound deferent. A brown label s much warmer then the yellow label but similar in overall signature.

Where did you get them? Are you referring to the 5687's?

Okay then dude i am a little confused. I have one and it says beckham on it. I think sylvannia made it and rebadged it for another manufacturer. It has a yellow label and the nipple at the top is pinched. If they are lush sounding there's no way there are going to Geogia now.

Why send them to Georgia when you can send them to sunny Florida.

Your meet is tommorow isn't it? It won't arrive in time for it then. It will probably be next week some time hopefully. Sorry, that's the best I can do at the moment.

yep the 5687's. I got mine in the UK. They cost me £5 which is about $9 I think.
