Hey, my first post on these forums, whoo! I'm pretty interested in this device. Looks sleek, awesome features, and fairly up to date modern technology (touch, micro SC, Micro USB, powerful, small amps, hi def DAC). I did hear, however, that the UI is regularly buggy and that there is problems with playback, being that there is a quite noticeable gap or delay between tracks that increases with higher quality files. Was wondering if since the device has been released that there has been firmware updates to fix these problems or not.

Cheers.

Welcome!

I've had it only a short while, but no bugs at all so far (firmware 1.33) and the delay between tracks isn't extreme at all. No gapless though if that's an issue.

I completely relate. I'm chatting to the MediaMonkey developers to see what we can work out. It absolutely should be possible.

Cool I hope that works out but I really think its an issue on iRivers part. They would just need to do some minor tweaking to their coding to add m3u support. If ibasso can do it I don't see why iRiver can't.

I agree! The text in the file is identical. If they would recognise the .m3u suffix and allow relative paths we'd be laughing.

I'll keep pushing MM if anyone else wants to push iRiver.

So I thought a comparison of various 'phones with various players would be helpful/interesting, but the reality is that it's predictable. Anything below about 50ohms shows detrimental variation in sound when paired with the AK100.

There's no doubt the AK100 is an exceptional DAP, but it needs to be modified or amped to maximise the sound of low-mid impedance 'phones.

Hey guys, has the delay between tracks been addressed with the newest firmware? Haven't had the time to update the firmware yet.

No, but I'll be sure to check it out now.

The track I was playing was part of the included MQS music with the AK100.

that's really bad fun reading about yet another great amp and not another great player. so many good and great amps to choose from that i feel overwhelmed with knowledge but when it comes to source they all can be count on the fingers of the one hand and none of them would be perfect unlike plentiful great amps.
