My FiiO M3 Pro can work as a digital signal source! I connected the player with a USB cable to the SMSL A6 (DAC+amplifier) and heard in the speakers the tracks played in the player. Dear FiiO developers, why is this useful feature not described in the instruction manual?

Hi,

Thanks for your kind feedback.

This feature has been mentioned in our website instead:

We will add to the manual as well.

Can anyone help me? I have just bought the M3 Pro and it doesn't seem to manage DSD gapless which is a deal breaker for me (yes, I have selected the gapless option in settings). I read that this feature had been added so some of the other 'M' series, so I thought I'd update to the latest FW...

However, I can't get the M3 Pro to update the software...I have formatted the SD card in the M3 Pro and d/l the latest FW from the FiiO website, but it won't recognise anything or perform the update.

Do I put the whole folder called 'Recovery update' into the root folder...and then try the update? This has a subfolder called 'nand' which has about 70 zipped folders in it and there's also a 'global.xml' file...

Any suggestions / help would be greatly appreciated?

You don't need to unzip the archive M3Pro.zip! Copy the archive M3Pro.zip as a single file to the root directory of memory card and run update.

Dear user,

What notification in the M3PRO will you receive when you update the firmware? Please try to format the card using the player and download the firmware file again for check.

Best regards

Thanks FiiO and Vas-tomsk

I managed to get it to work, I had to use a Windows PC (Virtual Machine), as I could not get it to work on my Mac.

@FiiO

There is still no gapless playback for DSD files, as this has been introduced on other M Series players, could you confirm if this will be included in a future firmware upgrade for the M3 Pro please?

I am using / want to use the M3 Pro with the USB out to my amp to make use of the DSD USB out function, but with the gaps it sounds terrible especially where tracks run into each other.

Thanks

Firmware 1.1.0 does not display the genre for DSD files. For example, in this file, the genre is called "Test":
