And that rig they use is continually checked for calibration and proper loading. It seems more likely to be accurate and consistent on head-fi’s rig than inaccurate.

Head-fi's rig is first rate, for sure. Their THD measurements are better than we can realize. However, other than THD, we use the same GRAS 45CA and with that for headphones room won't interfere with frequency response as signal swamps noise, it's only THD where I would refer to Head-Fi for something definitively better than we can publish. We are currently setting up a new Audio Precision measurement interface and future results will now be rendered using that and should be more consistent with what Head-Fi publishes.

yes, I did catch the full reference. Thx for asking. I wasn’t attempting to describe the nature of any presentation but only state the obvious of put them on, like them or don’t. It’s all about your ears and the opinion or conjecture from another states their individual listening tastes amongst billions of other ears and their preferences. I pay attention to measurements from those I know are consistent and diligent. It’s a reference but never an absolute.

Hi Dan. I know a recent headphone of yours, the Ether CX, required a lot of burn-in time to sound its best. How is the Aeon 2 in this regard? What is it's recommended burn-in time?

Measurements are a additional oppurtunity to evaluate the technical aspects of a headphone. It is important.
...and more importantly, they have been properly recorded. It's not about elitism.

Thanks for clarifying. I also agree with the simpler approach of just putting them on and like it or don't and that's exactly what I did on my initial impressions - put them on and liked them. The A2C are REALLY good for the price and for the closed back design. They're keepers...for now!

I’ve always appreciated Dans approach to headphones. I’ve also been fortunate to have enjoyed good times with him on many occasions. I’m not surprised you liked the A2C’s. Enjoy! :beerchug:

We have developed a more intense burn-in protocol for A2, at this point I'd say it's under 100 hours, maybe well under. I will be curious to hear owner feedback on this.

Please let us know when your headphone is ready for shipment. Seeing as you know so much more than Dan, they should be killer!

I wonder how well these would sound from the balance headphone out of the THX789? I’d probably get the open one but I’m not sure if I should get the standard XLR cable or the VIVO cable.

    VIVO cable is very nice.

Perhaps it is but it’s also an extra $200 US. Even more for Canadians like me. Would be nice to see what the cables actually look like.

I've been waiting for this. I had the original ÆON Closed but I lost them with my bag, unfortunately.

Right before I pull the trigger on this, I have a couple inquiries:
    • Does it have same connectors as AOC? I still have the original's, so it's no a big issue if not, but I prefer to have a backup just in case.
    • I see a lot of conversation about power. Will my Magni 2 Uber & Modi Multibit combo still work? I remember the original's even working on my Nintendo Switch and smartphone.
    Thanks!

I can second Dan's comment about the DX220 being used to drive the Aeons. Both the amp1mk2 and amp8 have more than enough power for mrspea... Dan Clark audio's headphones.
