Blah. Sorry to start another weather-related thread...

I know this is the rainy season in the California bay area and all but... I'm so sick of it already, and it just started three days ago. Quite nicely coinciding with finals and the most hectic time in my life in a long time.

I see the forecast says it will be 7 more straight days of rain. Please let the meteorologist be wrong.

How do you people in the pacific northwest put up with the dreariness? At least in Chicago (my old home), the snow is pretty when it falls. And even then the sun still peeps out occasionally to glint off the fluffy whiteness below. This is just... just... constant clouds, wetness, and my car roof leaking. I remember once in Chicago there was something like 30 straight days of clouds, and people were getting all depressed. There must be some sort of depression involved... I mean, it's the same kind of principle involved with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) -- no sunshine = no happy campers.

Sorry. I'm just venting. I'm frustrated with the rain. And all the stress I am under.

Looking on the bright side: Rain = lots of year-round green vegetaion, and I think that's a good thing.

Or you can get philosophical, and see the percentage and duration of rainy days as a part of the overall year as relating to the percentage and duration of unsunny days in the seasons of a person's life. (Whoa, now that's sounding a little heavy on the B.S.).

Or you can just relax and get used to it, even enjoy it. Many people end up prefering this type of weather to the wide weather swings of the Midwest and other parts of the country. And if not, there's always Southern California and Hawaii beckoning the sun-lovers.

Well...I hate to burst your bubble, but it is blowing a gale and raining in SoCal right now too....I think it is all my fault. I am getting ready to go home to CT, and something is helping me to transition. Here it is nasty weather and about 55, at home it is nasty weather and about 25...Yeah, but I hope it is not this blah all winter....This is my first California winter. I am used to Vermont and Vladivostok winters. Super cold, but lots of sun (well in Vladivostok anyway).

We have had very strong winds for the last two days here. Lost the electricity Sunday for a couple hours. Over at the town I spend half my time at it has been raining and blowing for the last couple of days.
I hate the wind. I don't much care for the rain either. I do love cloudy grey days though.
After three days, of rain I feel for ya LobsterSan.

I think it is all about what you are use to. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and never gave the rain and clouds a second thought. Now when I go back everything seems damp. I remember almost 20 years ago when the Bay Area was going through a drought they would have given anything for a day of rain.

Well it is cool today in Chicago and the Sun is peeking in and out of the clouds. Overall a pretty nice day so far.

But seriously, finals suck and I know some people are more affected by the weather than others. Just think about the sunny days where you have nothing to do and find something to look forward too and take your mind off of the weather.

I am in San Francisco on business (will be for the week) and last night's storm was incredible. I am staying at a hotel in South San Fran near the airport and couldn't sleep. I understand that the winds hit over 75 mph. The North Bay got over 4 inches of rain overnight. Traffic in the Bay Area sucks normally, this latest storm made it a nightmare....at least is some ares.

Rain is good....in moderation.

Weirdo, I love the rain

Guess thats what happens when you grow up in Oregon. In fact I miss it (a lot drier in upstate NY).
Best way to deal with it is to GET AWAY for a break. Spring break in Oregon is like a huge exodus, everyone tries to go somewhere sunny.
Good luck with those finals. Just finished mine today, flying home on wednesday!

I neglected to mention this in my first post, but here in Oregon we don't have to choose between rain and sunshine. We've got both outside right now as I type this. Ever wear sunglasses in the rain?

Can't beat Chicago where we have had thunder and lightning during a snow storm. Eeriest thing I have ever seen.

Ahh, the rain! It's been pouring pretty heavily out here in Salem. Gray, gray, gray. Though actually right now it is doing that wierd sun/rain thing that doug mentioned. Ah well, it isn't as bad as last year. Rah! rah! Global warming!

Radr, I'm from Yakima too. The rain sure is a shock after living in the desert, isn't it?

Yup yup! At least the sun came through for a little bit today... I can deal with rain patches alright, but the constant heavy rain is just annoying. I'd be dealing with it better if the wetness didn't follow me around everywhere I go (ie, my bed, floor, car, etc). I think I need a huge poncho, gigantor umbrella, thigh-high boots, and a de-wetness chamber built into the porch of my apartment.

Oh... and post 500!

We had way to much rain this past weekend. 50's and 20 MPH wind and rain makes fishin' miserable. Was planning to go Wednesday and Thursday since it's supposed to be sunny and in the 70's, but just found out I've got to WORK Wednesday and Thursday in West Palm Beach. Probably be about 80 - 85. Damn I wanted to go fishin'. I was planning on not working all month, but my partner just flunked a stress test and they plan to do a bunch more stuff for the rest of this week.

Oh well.
