Yes, its one of the reasons I ride a motorcycle.
But the main reason is that I can ride the bus lane. Hence I commute to work in 20-25 minutes, compared to 1 - 1 1/2 hour with a car. Its only 15 miles, but the traffic around here are packed.

It's too bad so few cities in North America have a large, dedicated network of bus lanes. It makes a *huge* difference in convenience and commute times by bus, so much so that it's often faster to take the bus to/from work than drive and wait in traffic. It can be hugely effective in cities where the network is well-planned (Ottawa is one city that comes to mind). Allowing motorcycle riders in bus lanes makes a lot of sense too.

HOV lanes are not the same.

I don't recall what it was per gallon; but I recall one summer getting gas for the boat, it came out to between $1.31 to $1.36 per TANK, depending on whether I had to paddle home or not. And that was for SIX Gallons of Gas and a quart of Outboard Motor Oil!!

That would have been about 1960. My Dad had mentioned Zip Gas, which advertised thirteen gallons for a Dollar before WW2.
