To those of you who have purchased these, how is the leakage? Is it significant?
I was first thinking of getting the S500s, but from what I've read they leak (maybe not overly so, but still) and I'd like to avoid that if possible.
Essentially I'd like to ride a bus and be able to turn up the volume so that I don't hear the bus and no one hears the music I'm listening to.

Leakage is minimal, acceptable for library use.
In order to use on mass transit, you'll probably have to improve isolation by blocking the "dynamic ports" (a.k.a. "bass ports")

Would these be suitable for gaming? I'm trying to decide on the best balance of good positional audio without sacrificing bass.

I don't use them for gaming, but based on the huge soundstage and great imaging - they should be as good for games as they are for music.

Can someone that isn't BenF please describe how they sound? There is a lack of diversity in the viewpoints here.

I am burning mine in now as we speak. I have had several JVC "nano tube" products before and they all went through moderate to major changes with burn in. To those that say they are a bit "boomy", I have seen all my JVC's bass settle down and tighten up/become more accurate. So be patient. Give them time. Just put 'em in a drawer with your favorite burn in track repeating for a couple of days.

S680 has been on sale in Japan with a 25% discount recently.
Some stores have already reverted back to the original price, e.g. e-earphone:

There still are some shops that sell S680 with the discount, you can find them here:

I don't know how long till all the stores revert back to the original price, so use this opportunity wisely!
If you don't have a forwarding service for shopping in Japan yet, try these:

Exceedingly curious about these given my positive experience with the S500...
