I use the medium sized tips on the FX850 but can use large.  Use medium Sony hybrids and same with the UE tips.  I ended up ordering the medium spiral dot tips so hopefully that works out.  The AT CKR10's and spiral dot tips are waiting for me at home so will throw up initial impressions tonight.

I usually use medium sized tips but really like the feel of the large on the FX-850.  Not sure if it helps with isolation to any noticeable degree, but they are very comfortable in my ears.

After a lot of research, then more research and reading through just about every comment in this thread I ordered a pair of FX-850's! I've been using a pair of Sennheiser IE8's for what seems like 5 years and the entire ear canal tips on each earbud have recently broken off after installing and removing Comply foam tips for the past several years. I ended up ordering through Amazon and paid $353 shipped from a well reviewed seller that has them shipped from Japan. I was also looking at getting a DAC player to go along with the FX-850's and ended up ordering the Fiio X5. I'll post some impressions after I get the 850's and have some time listening to my music collection with them.

Hi, i just received my fx850 (today is my birthday \o/, i'm 25 ) 
Listening to it right now. ... and It's awesome right out of the box.
I would like to post some comparaisons made with my stock Denon D7000
My setup: Cary xciter (DAC) > MF M1 HPA (ampli) > JVC FX850
Other headphones/earphones i own: Sennheiser HD800, Denon D7000, JVC FXT90.
 
First, the fx850 is very heavy / breakable and i don't feel like i could throw them on my desk like i do with my fxt90.
Luckily, once i put them on my ears, they don't fall off. However i can't have a good seal with them (doesn't matter cause i've enought bass quantity).
Maybe i should try other iem tips.
->With Monster Tips Foam (loose seal): I've lost the bass there, not sure it was a good idea ^_^ ... or maybe it is?
 
 
The Sound:
A/B comparaisons :
-JVC FX850 out of the box (with stock tips (loose seal)) vs Stock Denon D7000:
->Góða Tungl - Samaris: the soundstage is huge/well layered with the fx850 but the D7000 win there
There is more bass in the FX850 but it is less tight/accurate/impactfull.
The voices are more believable with the D7000.
Same goes for the hights (there is more treble/sparkle/detail with the D7k).
Once compared with the D7000, it feels like the sound is overshadowed by the bass with the jvc fx850 (i want more treble !!!).
The overall sound is more enjoyable and natural with my old denon D7000
I think the fx850 need some burn in before any further judgment  (i'll update future impressions)

->Góða Tungl - Samaris: The sub-bass part is gone. Brings out the treble and the medium. I miss the sub-bass part so much ^_^ ... even if the sound is more neutral (+tighter bass).
 
 
In conclusion, the JVC FX850 (250€) is a great earphone (i really like the sound) but it just cannot compete with the Denon D7000 (1000€), at least right out of the box.
I find the sound of the FX850 closer to the JVC FXT90 (without the treble peak and with more sub-bass).

It has been stated a few times that the sound of the FX850s changes with time and the frequency response seems to flatten out.
The FX850s are the best earphones I know but still they can't compete with my Denon D5000. D5000s are still more refined and have higher resolution but nontheless the FX850s are great.

I hope the treble will increase and the bass will dicrease after the burn in process.

Been burning the FX850 for 6 hrs (in my ears, no mercy!) and I can already tell a difference from out of the box.
Happy to report that Electronica already sounds SUPERB out of HM801. Last time I had been that impressed with such fun sound signature was back then with the AH-D7000 (different sound but similar fun)
 
I can see why some may feel the bass is a little much/loose out of a less powerful DAP. Balanced mode adds articulation/tightness in the bass among other little details. I'm just blown away at how IMMENSE and MASSIVE these "little" (not really) woodies sound. Funny cause they look so "classical music" when they sure are very "Electronica" sounding. 
 
Can't wait for them to be fully ripe...

Best tips on the planet right here. Completely worth the $45 I payed for 2 boxes. You only get 3 pairs a box. Silicone gold these things..I just opened up a box and tried it on my H3.. Completely worth the money..First tips to beat out my UE tips..

Nevermind I found some seller on ebay asking for some absurd prices for them.  You could undercut him by a lot and still make money.  He wants 33 bucks a box and 19 per box for shipping.  What a joke.

I highly recommend setting up an account with Tenso.com  Use their address they give you once you set up the account with them on Amazon Japan.

It's still quite expensive though. Considering it will be about $18.00 for 1 box and then you have to pay shipping from tenso.... Hopefully they will become available on amazon.com
