I have come into some money in time for Christmas and have about 300 dollars to spend on a pair of over the ear headphones. I was looking at the Hifiman 400S, Monoprice 1060C, Meze 99 classics, or even considering Audio Technica. I must make a decision within a rather short period of time, and researching has brought me to a dead end.. I have a pair of Grado SE 80s, but have been listening to IEMs exclusively for the past three years. So I ask the fine members of this community, can you help a brother out? Are there any "sleeper" planar headphones out there? Otherwise I am leaning towards the Hifiman 400S.

I know you're looking at a Planar, but may I suggest the HD600, as a person who grew up with the SR80, I fell in love with the HD600s. They're up on Amazon for 300 bucks.

I've listened to them compared to the H400S, but I found that the HD600 had a more natural mid range.

Hi folks.

Still waiting for the AP80 from Hidizs, I've thought this could be a nice present for my wife and backed it at ks... I was so wrong...

Estimated delivery was Nov., I ordered a red one, now after some quality issues, they asked for a colour change or to wait till mid Dec.
I changed from red to grey, because they stated to ship these asap, that was 5 days ago and now radio silence, no tracking number...

The AP80 got listed at AE and people who ordered from AE already got their dap, before the backers got theirs...
Now I could order it from a shop in France.
Hidzs learnt nothing from the 2 ks campaigns before: lack of communication, bad qc, ...
This will be my first and for sure last deal with this crap company.

The GL2 have >100h break in, but the mids are still a bit recessed. The stiff cable is really annoying imho.
