The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

Anyone else have this problem?

I've babied my DX-50.  Occasionally swapped out the batter for a fresh one but other than that it's been great.  For some reason the rewind button is now a Volume Down button and the Fast Forward works as a pause button.  All other buttons work fine.  Have reset and it and have still had no luck.

So it does work... I just can't fast forward or rewind on it.  Wonder if it got damaged in a charge?

In my opinion SQ is a little/more better than on 1.9.3. Soundstage is wider, upper mids are more clear. Especially female voices (in my case: Kari Bremnes, Goldfrapp, Imogen Heap, Anna Ternheim) are more intimate. Violins are closer to the head (Bryan Ferry "Bete Noire").

Do you mean that the SQ in your opinion is slightly better with 1.9.3?  That was a little unclear in your post.

I agree. Personally, both 1.9.2-3 were too harsh and sibilant for me, and 1.9.4 reminds of 1.6 and 1.8 which I preferred.

Open it using UnRarX.  If you have a spare micro sd card you can copy it to that and upgrade from the car.

Is anyone having an issue with DX50 V1.9.4 upgrade using a Macbook? Its not a zip file and therefore no program to open it to allow transfer to DX50.

Thanks for any help,
Fred

Click “Go” from the Finder menu and then click “Utilities.” Double-click “Terminal” to launch Apple's native terminal emulator. Type “cd” (change directory) at the prompt, then drag the folder containing the ZIP file into the terminal emulator window and then press the “Enter” key.

That's not helping if you need to extract a RAR archive and not a ZIP archive.

You need an app to UnRAR. Like the Unarchiver, RAR extractor free etc. (in the App Store for Mac).

Zipeg works very well for extracting the .rar file. It is a free download. http://www.zipeg.com

Thanks for all the help. I ended up using Zipeg, but that required me to also install a Java program as well. Now I will see if I can even tell the difference with my Sony XBA 3's. I also use a Fiio E12 with my DX 50 when not trying to travel light.

Loving and enjoying the sound of the latest firmware. Gapless works perfectly, but I noticed that in some endings of tracks, it cuts really fast. It is really obvious at ends of albums. All Flacs, gapless on, factory reset and scanned. That's the only thing weird.
