The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

2 things:
1.its totally worth upgrading to either 1.2.8 or the doc2008 1.2.2 depending on your sound sig preference. There's no reason to be back on 1.x.x.

2. I always set my LO to 225-235. I have to set it that low to be able to use 70% of the volume knob, or the volume gets too loud at 20%

apparently, my 64gb sd card (cost me $18) was defective.
i picked up a sandisk 64gb card today, and it works fine with dx50.

dx50 is simply amazing!
compared to cowon d2 and a few ipods, dx50's sound quality is just different.
since i mostly had mp3s loaded into cowon d2 and ipods, i did the same to dx50 and the sound out of it was clearly superior.
then i compared d2 and dx50, both playing flac's.
dx50 had more details, better separation, tighter but deeper bass, wider soundstage, etc.

so far, i have no issues at all.

Agree! :) Cowon players really isn't pitting up against players like Ibasso, Fiio anymore.. Quite a sad case as they really make pretty portable players with good battery life.

i still love cowon d2.  it's compact, easy to use, and still brings out better sound than most other mp3 players do out there imo.  it'll be used with my car stereo full time now.

I have V1.1.5 on my DX50 still (second batch) and am thinking is it worth it to upgrade to 1.2.8? Have deliberately stayed away from all the Version hype that I got sucked into with my DX100. The fact is it worked for what I wanted and so I just stayed with it :)

Anybody who has been on the whole journey of the DX50 care to chime in as to whether I should upgrade the software or whether I shouldn't

Wow. Go install 1.2.8, you're in for a treat! Just about better everything!

just hope that next FW update can improve on UI , especially to change the wall paper

You do realise that you can change the wallpaper, right?

Resize an image to 320x240 pixels, save it as "wallpaper.png" and copy it to the root of the DX50. A dedicated thread can be found here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/697316/ibasso-dx50-wallpaper-320x240-thread

I'll add a small description later on the OP to show new members how add a wallpaper. :)

Was meaning to do it a while back, but just kept forgetting. Thanks for a reminder, haha.

Has anyone tried the dx50 with a fiio e6? I don't know if it's just me but the soundstage got noticeably narrower? Tried it with both in ears and headphones same effect..Can anyone validate?

The FiiO E6 is an inferior amp compared to the in-built amp in the DX50. It is most likely that connecting it to the DX50 line-out will adversely affect the sound quality. I've never tried that combination though.

Upgrade your amp and you will be surprised

i'm using dx50 with headpico pico (not slim or power) and rs predator.
comparing to dx50's headphone out, using either of those two with its line-out takes the sound quality to another level (i favor pico over predator).
i am listening via sennheiser hd600 and er4p/s.
i really did not expect this much of sonic improvement over other dap's that i have used in the past!

Well my DX50 is freezing on me more and more frequently. I don't believe it is static as it is in the iBasso silicone case. I am going to take out the 64Gb sandisk card and put in a 16Gb kingston one with just a couple of flac albums and give it a go. I just ordered the HifiMan HM-700 so will put same albums on.
