The headphones I would never part with are the following, because legends will be legends till the end:

Sennies HD-25 Aluminium, for it's impeccable retro build quality, bass and on-ear tracking headphones perfected.
Hifimano HE-500, for it's incredible organic midrange that no headphone can match, this headphone is the golden mano
Hifimano HE-400 Rev.4, for it's attacking and speedy nature with fantastic soundstage, the talented hermano
Soundmagician HP100, for it's 8-ball studio quality from top to bottom, tracking and localizing is a breeze, goes with ease
Foster TH-X00 Purple <3, dropping my oo every time, a big ball of clean audio, slamming with warm timbre and impact
E-Musical Teak, for being as detailed as fun, and as neutral as it is open sounding, as bassy as it's beautiful, the golden bae

Which ones are yours???

For me, it would be the Audio-Technica ADX5000.

Is the ADX5000 the best headphone I've owned or heard? Not quite. But, the combination of its overall offering leads me to believe I'll never have a need to move on from it (despite my love of trying new gear). The price is fair, the headphone has good synergy with my gear, it's technical performance is strong, they have a very "live" presentation to them, and most importantly, it is by-far the most comfortable TOTL headphone I've tried. Comfort is critical and that really helps me here with this one.

HE-500 mods w/ bit-perfect or parametric EQ

HD-600 custom cable, slight anti damping on rear side on an OTL amp (my case a BHC w/ speedball and lots up upgraded parts)

Probably the following 3 headphones -

1) Denon AH-D9200
2) Fostex TH900 Mk2
3) Sony MDR-Z1R

These are the only headphones that have made me consider the, admittedly, wild and crazy, idea of owning a second, back-up pair.

I've had a LOT of nice headphones but I'll always have:
AKG K712/702/660S
Overall enjoyable headphones without fatigue when paired with the right gear.
IEMs the OG Solaris is a mind blower.

Which mods did you do? I always wanted to mod my HE-500 but didn't get to it yet, will want to do it asap :D
If I give you any sort of run down the post will be removed. So in one sentence (in order): fuzzor, screen off & Clark Ether Angled pad, OFC cable, dynamat mod - see 500 thread for much more. Digital EQ to build up hole in 1800 Hz area, and reduce ringing around 9.5k (get graphs (inc waterfall) and listen), about 4 more settings make sense.
