Notes & Thoughts

Never saw the "TH" Bash brothers coming. I have heard and been impressed but it took an owner to put them through the motions to confirm that they are not only epic audiophile cans they have enormous low end power.
If you're a basshead and want your cake (bass) and eat it too (Hi fidelity sound along with it)...the TH series wait for you...and your money
wink.gif

Every can on this list is owned by a single owner and were compared in exactly the same manner. On the ear to confirm what the Paper test shows. That's a nice visual to enjoy. The settings were identical. Personal bias was overcome. I know 1 user who would have loved to have seen those hand glazed cups at #1. Never think this is about anything but bass. Lotta work and communication goes on that you never see.  Most thought out comprehensive, accurately compared list of bass cans on the internet by a very wide margin.

Enjoy.

NOT TOP 10, BUT STILL RECOMMENDED!

IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER

RE "Drivers: 89mm"
That is impresive.

But still would consider(repeat) (since something like XB910 got recomendation)
- Takstar HD5500, cleared sound by droping low mids [those were recommended by some bass fan on the takstar thread; I own them but still preferer the Pro80/HD6000)
- Somic MH489, somewhat warm/muddy + subwoofer like, but the mids are strong, and it provides somewhat good soundstage (like 3dness, and general space)

And since Mixr is on the list, I would consider
- Takstar HD6000, since those headphones do everything (IMHO) better that mixr's (maybe mixr are more lively)

And why no Denons D600 or D7100 [especially considering they are on sale for some time]

Weezy becomes the solo act with the most Hot 100 appearances. Now with 109 entries under his belt, Weezy passes Elvis Presley, who totaled 108 entries between the chart's 1958 launch and 2003.

I just jumped in here to say that WalMart of all places has Velodyne vTrue headphones on line for $138. Velodyne is the preeminent world leader in home subwoofers. I bought these phones and the bass is fantastic! Low, tight fast and detailed. Not muddy at all. They sell everywhere for $250 to $400. The mids and highs are about average but the build quality is second to none.

Hi all,

I've been enjoying my SZ2000 (HA-M55x pads)+FiioE12+Hexagon QDSP6V5A DAC combo for some time. Still EQing the **** out of her, still pounding head till visual distortion.

I have noticed there are some 60+ pages added to this thread since I've received the SZ2ks per HBBs recommendation. Do these still sit at the top of bass mountain? Is there anything else out there that can match the EQ'd bass of the SZ? Are there any better pads than the HA-M55x in regards to bass?

(mini note: I had a few other friends try my setup out. Most people are completely blown away, but I have some co-workers who are 'audiophiles'. One rocks the HE-400s (which I love), other rocks the DT990s. They tried the SZ setup out, with Bass-EQ, and without; Told me they were expensive 'kid-toy headphones'... huh.. to each their own I suppose. They told me using EQ is unnatural, ruins the intention of the artists composition. Feels bad man.)

I listen to very little non-electronic music- so I can see where they are coming from, but meh.

Yes Full list on the top of this page or 1 page back. Updated monthly re posted weekly

Whu? Expensive? Kid toy? The **** does that mean? A large multi genre' listening community would strongly disagree and they own some very very expensive kid toys. The # of owners is growing almost daily bro. Anyone with DT990 saying anything besides holy **** wow at the power of the sz is just being butt hurt. send em over here where we actually test stuff.

Sure, you think they were checking into the mastering deck room to ensure all sliders filters and compressors were off when their music was being created?

Get new friends with open minds .common sense and confident in what they like and happy for you in what you like instead of picking it apart with dated childish critique. They sound like ********.

Anyway...long time no see

Note to others rec'ing cans. That is for the wiki (link in my sig)  We test cans...our cans....your cans in here. Please remember this list is built on events and opinions not just opinions and they are done with specific parameters and shared and confirmed and listed. No can gets on the list in this thread just because somebody said it slams.......show us or sit back and relax. There is another thread for general bass talk for amps, cans and everything. This is for the 'hands on crew"

Look at the vid above. All info given under test for others to try and mimic. That's what this thread is for.
