The GS-1 Thread

I used to do the brushed finishing myself.  Guy at a machine shop let me setup a belt sander I bought there, and Id do it for 12 hours straight.  Not in a million years can that ever happen again.  This would be called linear grain, most stuff out there is fed through a machine called a time saver which puts a choppy, wire brushed looking finish on things which I really hate and will never use.

It's an art form and very few COMPANY BOSSES ($$$) have the patience for it

Well Justin, you certainly did a great job...the brushed finishing on my GS-1 looks great.

Sorry for using this thread, but I need some help there.

I bought a second Headamp GS-1 from Europe, but I need change the jumper to 115V.

Since justin.w didn't answer me how, so I hope the Owner of GS-1 could take some photo for me.

Here's the bottom of the circuit board, as you could see the jumper.

And here's the photo near the fuse

Great thanks.

I guess that, too.

But because there're two 115V to place the jumper, I don't know should I place the jumper on both 115V.

Hope I could enjoy the GS-1 soon.

And Great thanks your helping, Mr. Sneis.

Been listening to the GS-1 (dact) with my HP-2's lately and I've been quite impressed.  IMO the HP-2's are picky with amplification.  I don't much care for the Zana Deux with them (probably tube compliment issue) but the GS-1 has the ability to give bass a bit more body while maintaining an overall neutral signature, not an easy feat in my experience. I may even say I prefer this combo to the old Melos Sha Gold combo.

Mr.Sneis,

Look at the surprise you have waiting for you when you get your new GS-X.

- Add 4-pin XLR balanced output (replaces 1 of the 2 1/4" stereo jacks)
- Add a 2nd RCA input
- Add a on/off switch for the pre-out jacks
- Improved gain switch circuitry/board layout

- Add 4-pin XLR balanced output (replaces 1 of the 2 1/4" stereo jacks) - Always wondered if Justin would adopt 4-pin
- Add a 2nd RCA input
- Add a on/off switch for the pre-out jacks - I think that this has probably bugged some GS-1/GS-X owners for a while now
- Improved gain switch circuitry/board layout - Not a huge fan of the way the gain is setup on the GS-1, interesting

Wowza!  How did you find all this out?

i emailed you too, on 6/11.

In addition to those list of improvements for this refreshed GS-X, the enclosure design will match the Blue Hawaii SE (BHSE) with the polished & laser engraved front panel.

I'm also working on new Gilmore amp modules that will boost the power output and could be retrofitted into the GS-1 or older GS-X

For now the price of the GS-X remains the same but there will likely be an increase when it is released to cover the costs of these improvements.
