The Great Gig In The Sky (The R.I.P. Thread) NEW RULES IN 1ST POST

I am stunned. He was a young man, comparatively. It just goes to demonstrate that you never know when you will go. I think he was a sterling example of living your life to the fullest and staying true to yourself and your beliefs. I also think that history will show that his legacy will grow as time goes on. He was a genius and his contributions to music as well as his influence on other artists are akin to other geniuses like Lennon, Bowie, Sinatra and the like.
RIP your majesty.
Thank you for the music.

I agree. His Guitar skills were a match for anyone (see vid above, 3:26 onwards). I used to be disappointed that he didn't go full rock. As time went by, I really admired him for playing life to the beat of his own drum.

He was a Shepherd in a music industry predominantly full of Sheep.

Very nicely put.

I would say he's a (pop) icon. Although not a fan, some of his music could be on the next Voyager to represent mankind. That at least is the impact they've made on my life. He came up in the music industry when I was growing up so he's just interwoven whether I like it or not. The same as with Michael Jackson. Indelible. I'm touched and saddened.

Rest In Peace

I first heard this song when Thomas Lang covered it on his 'Scallywag Jaz' album (see below). I've always loved it, strange how a song about infidelity can give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside

. Classic song.

What a ridiculously horrible year 2016 has been for Music.

I commented on this very forum that their latest Album was their 'Magnum Opus'. I didn't realise how right I was. I mean, they made very decent Albums but 'All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us' was stratospherically good IMHO (I bought it twice, physical & 24 Bit download), it's right up there for my AOTY.

Other bigger stars have passed, bigger names but along with Piotr Grudzinski' passing, this Welshman's heart is just that little bit heavier.

****, 28 years old, he was just getting started. I'm not going to lie, Mrs T and I both cried when we heard this, very, very sad news, indeed.
