I'm a new member here and I try to use the FS board and it tells me I have to have 50 posts.

Great. I guess I'll come out here and say good morning every day.

Back to Agon I guess. I wanted to give the headphone guys first shot at what I was selling, but looks like that's not going to happen.

Or perhaps you might share in the discussions and add to the knowledge base with a sincere show of good will. Rather than posting your displeasure with the privilages extended within policy, like stopping in to say hi, seemingly simply looking for a place to hock some gear without a fee...

But that's your business...

We shop Agon too, see your gear there

I am sure you are an honest and reasonable guy and since you have only been a member for two months or less you may not know the history behind the "rules" here. Scroll around the FS forum and note the number of times good and trusting people have been taken by scammers. The purpose of this forum as I understand it is for members to inform each other of new products, features and designs and share ideas. The for sale part is an additional feature but not the primary purpose for HeadFi, otherwise it would be at the top of the start page. As an outsider looking at you, and again I am sure your intentions in joining are good. Why would you join a forum with the intention of immediately selling something? Are you here to share or sell????

A more constructive action would be to suggest ways to improve and safeguard sellers and buyers. Just complaining is not as constructive. I can't speak for Jude or the mods but I have found everyone here open to constructive consideration and they will make changes if it benefits the community.
Good luck and welcome.

“the FS policy leaves something to be desired”

Easy for you to say. There’s also the other side where people who have been ripped off ask why the Moderators didn’t do more to protect individuals. No matter what the Moderators do some one will be un-happy.

Hang out for a little bit and get to know us, give us a chance to get to know you. What’s your rush? You can buy things you just can’t post a For Sale Ad.

NO WAY.... it is a rule that was recently implemented to prevent scammers from dipping in and bailing out after committing a scam.

Just hang around for a while, its not hard to get 50 posts, if you are really into sound reproduction and headphones. Many of the personal relationships around here are built on trust and reputation. If you are a legit contributor to the forum, it won't take long for people to warm up to you.

Why don't you hang around a bit longer, sharing you knowledge?
You might end up finding this forum a great place to stay. With lots of nice knowledgeable users, providing all sorts of information.

After all you have already filled one (1) of the two (2) posting requirements for FS forums:
* You must be registered for a minimum of 30 days

I dunno how this has impacted the useless posts on this forum to bump up post count to simply sell something, but I also suspect it has deterred many scammers away.

But if somebody really wanted to scam somebody, I'de think especially if it were high dollar, they'de appear to have genuine posts. Like said, all you'de have to do is waste a couple hours posting with opinions that are of semi-decent length, and with how fast the forums move, he would almost NEVER have post on top of post....so nothing would look "fishy".

And with the way eBay protects eMail addy's, all they'de have to do is point to a seller with high positive feedback. Most people just look to see if there are any negatives, and history of the ID. Not too many (if any) people check to see if it is infact the same person by sending duplicate eMails.

That is why I think it's all bunk. If somebody REALLY wanted to scam somebody on here...it's gonna get done. It's a false sense of security IMO.

But who pays attention in that manner???

Or you could stay around long enough for people to trust you

. In my book this post damaged that possibility pretty well already.

While I understand the OP's annoyance with having to wait to sell stuff, overall it's a good measure to protect the buyer's on here. It won't stop ALL the scammers, but I'd say it's a pretty good deterent.

BTW, I'm waiting for 50 posts too... it's hard, since I'm more of a lurker and don't have much to contribute to threads. But hey, it'll happen when it happens

Hi Jodet,

Though I can understand where you're coming from, the policy is not likely to be changed any time soon.

I hope you can find the place worthwhile, stay the 30 days, make 50 good posts, and then post your sale(s) in Gear FS/T after that happens.

I'm going to close this thread, as, again, there are no plans to change the policy.

Best Regards,
Jude
