The FitEar CIEM Impressions Thread

Oh so you did ur impressions with ur own audiologist, I see, that's interesting.

Perhaps since Nanaholic is so persuasive with DMA Hong Kong, and he used his own ear impressions as you now intend to do so, he may be the man who could help you with this particular dilemma?

There is no persuasion - I ask DMA Hong Kong what's involved in getting Fitears, they gave me a list of actual audiologist in different areas of Hong Kong/Kowloon which they recommend and say off I go to pick whoever I'd like and is convenient - straight to the point and no nonsense or pushy selling. It was Jaben HK which gave me the run around with the usual "hey we were trained by Suyama-san so you are better to do it with us" story (which I must stress again, Fitear Japan will not confirm no deny this story).

PS: I must also add that Mingo Headphone World (the 3rd official Fitear distributor of HK) does exactly the same thing as DMA HK - they have a list of recommended audiologist and say I can pick whoever I like/convenient. Jaben is the odd one out. The reason I picked DMA originally was they were willing to give me a discount out of their own pocket. So why not?

Just for the record here's the actual email reply from Suyama-san (or staff of) where I asked Fitear about taking impressions from Jaben. Important details blacked out for obvious reasons:

Basically Suyama-san said if I'm not confident with the staff of Jaben doing the impression taking, please go and find someone else I can trust to do it - with confirmation from Jaben.

Grant this is more than 3 years ago now but take that as you will. But it's plainly obvious that back then there is no such preference for "Fitear trained staff" - one of the reason I started doubting Jaben HK (the staff obviously didn't expect me to go to the source to confirm his sales pitch)

Just tried out the K10's. Tonal balance is indeed very similar to the 335 sr. Upon deeper listening, SR has that slight better extension in the highs and more 3d sounding.

Both have great slamming bass, but I'd choose the SR for the better treble.

Really this biased view you take and have done so for over three years is over a discount that DMA gave you.............this is totally laughable!!!

Fact...

- Jaben were the first overseas dealer for Fitear

- Jaben HK sold the first pair of FitEar customs

- Suyama San did instruct Derek of Jaben HK how to do the ear impressions how FitEar wants them done, as I think he did for Claire in the Singapore branch

- Suyama San in his reply did not confirm nor dispute the fact that he taught the Jaben staff, he just said if you are not happy and prefer to seek an audiologist to have your impressions done, go ahead

- Mingo and DMA sells the customs due to a miscommunication, they were only supposed to to sell the ToGo series

- Jaben HK always gets the newest FitEars first

Before mouthing off a dealer which I think to be very unfair, take off your rose tinted spectacles...........

Unfortunately for you though I actually do my research instead of going via the sales pitch of the staff. I'm including the rest of my email conversation with Suyama-san/Fitear below, again sensitive information blacked out for obvious reasons:

I inquired about whether there is truth in Jaben staff receiving training from Suyama-san, Fitear/Suyama-san clearly said he will not tell customers what dealings they have with Jaben Hong Kong - so what I said regarding that Fitear will not confirm nor deny anything regarding training distributor in ear impression taking is in fact all true and the very truth.

It's amazing how people continues to jump to the defense of Jaben's "hey we were trained by Fitear" when a) Fitear has NO official PR or certification to prove anything regarding training distributors in the technique of ear impression taking, b) it seems extremely unlikely that Jaben would get specialised/VIP treatment in an area which clearly puts Jaben at an advantage ("officially trained to take Fitear CIEM ear impressions") when there are *3* official distributors/partners in Hong Kong - that seems like a very stupid way of doing business.

When you say the things you said are facts - they are in truth FAR from facts.  Please submit your proof that Suyama-san or Fitear has, on ANY official Fitear channels, that they have trained Jaben staff in the art and technique of ear impression training (which the other distributors DIDN'T). Otherwise, I don't think I am bad mouthing anyone for telling the truth and questioning unproven sales pitches from staff who may nor may not be bending the truth a little in order to get a sale.

I don't know how old you are but you are sounding more and more naive now and your research is based on an email communication where nothing is confirmed nor denied...................

As if a Japanese company is going to give you the inner details of their relationships with their international dealers.

I just don't understand the bitterness that's all......initially it was about a discount!!!

Oh I was actually there when Suyama San showed Derek how to do the impressions...

Nanaholic, it is the insinuation that you are making that is the crux of the matter. It matters not that it is true that FitEar does not see the need to discuss its own commercial dealings with you. What matters is your suggestion that therefore this must mean Jaben is lying.

All the facts show is that FitEar does not deign to discuss such matters with you. And FitEar communicated that if you are not happy to have your impressions done by Jaben HK, you are free to have your impressions done elsewhere. Nothing more, nothing less. Any further suggestion calls for speculation.

A bit of scrutiny is good when it is logical and sound. Especially it exposes fallacies and prejudice disguised as facts. :)
I really think this chain of posts is derailing the thread and OT. So, I would suggest that this should end here and now.

Ack agreed, let's move along from this topic. Further responses will be deleted, persistence will result in potential account lockout of the thread.

Let's get back to the thread topic, FitEar CIEM impressions.

MH334 SR???

http://fitear.blogspot.sg/2016/04/mh334-hpfes.html?m=1

Haha! It would appear that way, Sabre2. I am frankly a bit surprised because I thought the Aya sounded like FitEar had tweaked the MH334 to give it more treble extension and even tighter bass.

Well, we will have to see what the SR mod for the MH334 does it to the sonic sig. While I am all for such options, it is a pity that the SR requires a FitEar owner to give up on the original sonic sig. Which may be difficult if one likes the sig as is. But oh well... It is what it is... :)

Got about half way through this giant thread before deciding to pull the trigger on a pair of MH335DWs!  Placed the order and did fittings today so hopefully they will arrive in a month or two.

Tried out the universal version of the MH335DW and was absolutely blown away.  My "go to" song for testing earphones is R. Kelly's "Gotham City".  I listen to quite a bit of bass heavy music and the first 30 seconds of this song will let me know immediately whether a pair of headphones is suitable.  With the MH335DW, when the melody kicked in I immediately felt the slam of the bass while at the same time preserving (to my ears), a lot of the sparkle of the treble.

Store was also kind enough to let me try them with the Chord Mojo - quite an impressive combination (although during my short listen, the difference between the Mojo and stock iPhone 6 out is definitely well into the territory of diminishing returns).

Look forward to joining the club soon!

So do u plan to get any upgrade cables?

It's hard to say without trying out the stock cable first.  I would probably look into an amp before upgrading cables.  And my cable choices are driven primarily by ergonomics and build quality - with the types of music I listen to and in the environments I listen (noisy streets, planes, etc.) I find it difficult to discern a significant difference in sound quality between various cables.
