"Cygnus....Vismund Cygnus" by The Mars Volta.  Fast, frantic, lots of crap going on, and gets me PUMPED.

(OK if the headphones turn out to suck, maybe not so pumped, but you know what I mean)

Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto ~ Corcovado or Girl from Ipanema

Although that might be weird for when ever I get a proper EDM bass head 'phone.

Howard Shore - Khazad Dum.  "Drums...drums in the deep."  It gives me chills.

Wes Montgomery - Smokin at The Half Note - Misty. Great dynamics, live performance, a lot of things going on, from glasses clinking, etc

Two songs in this order.

Amaranthus LOVE.LIES.BLEEDING
You can't buy this track or album anymore, so If you can find where it's hidden on the interwebs snag it.

Tegan and Sara - "Terrible Storm" on "If It Was You"
So many layers to pick apart. soft drums with deep bass, two acoustic guitars, a squealing electric guitar playing with feedback, multiple synths, lots of cymbals and twin female vocals, but all fit together naturally, somehow.  It's really a torture test for separation and detail.

I guess I'm a bit different in that I just hit play as my playlist is usually on random unless I am in the mood for a particular album. I do have certain tracks that I know very well and go back to when I compare different headphones but that doesn't happen until a week or two after I get used to the headphone.

Good choice! That's a great way to start a thread.

It depends on what I'm in the mood for but I like Rob Martino - One Cloud a lot.

It's hard to believe that someone can play that huge thing so well. If you haven't seen the videos of him (or anyone else, I suppose) playing a Chapman Stick, it's worth checking out. It's pretty impressive! I would have used his other video but the quality of this track is superior.

I always play something by Pink Floyd.  I don't have a particular favorite song or album that will always get the honors.  It just has to be something by Pink Floyd.

Last time it was Dark Side of the Moon (hybrid SACD version) straight through.
