I can afford but. I see no reason to have 2.

get the X3, then, when the X5 gets released, get that too, and sell the one you like least. that's probably what i'm going to do

extra costs, remapping the PCB, editing firmware.

i don't see this happening.

both, if you have the money, the X3 is already a great DAP, and it might be enough for you.

It´s a shame if it doesn´t. I am sure this would mean additional sales. It´s the kind of capability that makes my tiny samsa clip so grand and still pushing sales after 7 years

I, for one, have absolutely no interest in radio functionality in a high grade audiophile audioplayer.

Yeah, right. I was wondering what's making people still buy sansa clips and love them but now I know it was the radio coz people just can't use their phones. And now audiophiles are dying to pay 300-400 bucks to listen to the radio on the go. What's next - do you want to be able to play games like on Rockbox? A little bit of Doom on the X5, right? Now that will surely push the Fiio sales through the roof.

I never use the FM radio on any of the players I own that have it.

I don't use FM period any more except for the clock radio and when renting cars.
At least with Sirius I get some control over my crappy sounding music.

There are SQ reasons to leave this out as well since you are adding in an RF antenna to a device where HF noise is already an issue.
