The Fiio X5 Thread
Jul 28, 2014 at 1:57 AM Post #11,417 of 19,652
My x5 does not resume play on a flac song while set to 'last position' after shutting it down and turning on again. Just starts over at the main menu. I tried various other albums, flac and mp3, and they will resume play at last position. Wondering if it's a problem with this one flac album and what could be causing it. Tried various tracks from the album and none will resume play from last position.

Yup, that seems to be a problem for me, as well. I think it's a problem for many others, too. It's one of the highest-voted bugs on Fiio's bugzilla for both X3 and X5!

X3 and X5 have always supported OGG

Thanks.

I just read in one of the reviews here that there was some problem with OGG and will be fixed in firmware update. Just making sure.

Fiio's been working on making OGG decoding better - had issues in earlier FW. I *think* they've been resolved from release notes but don't listen to OGG, so hopefully someone who does listen to OGG will chime in.

Again, I cannot say that I know for fact, however on earlier firmware, if you went too high with the compression, the CPU couldn't decode it (crashed / skipped files) - lesser compressed files play with no issue whatsoever...
From the e12 to the Vorzuge and now the Hugo!! When did you get the Hugo?

How does it stack up (see what I did there) with the other amps?
Haha... Good one!

Yes, the past four or five months have been a bit of a roller coaster for me in amp land, starting with just the E12 (having sold / gifted the rest of my portable amps), and then ending up with E12, CEntrance HiFi M8, TTVJ Slim, Vorzuge Duo, and now the Hugo...

To answer your question though, I don't actually want to answer, only because there is more than one factor at play here (line out vs coax out on the player vs line in and coax in on the Duo / Hugo), only to say that the Hugo is insanely clean sounding...

No need to be sorry my friend. To tell you the truth, sound quality wise It is hard for me to state a preference between my X3 and my X5. I use them both quite a bit and really enjoy them both. I like the X3 for it's smaller size and how easy it fits in a pocket. I like the X5 for the extra capacity. I guess if forced to choose I have a slight preference for the sound of the X5. They are both very, very good and when I am using one I am not missing the other. Unless you want to carry 256 GB of music with you, the X3 is a good choice.

Thanks lol, the X3 is quite tempting due to its price, but I am preferring the X5's screen size and wheel. Am I right to say that the X5's amp section and relative "neutralness" to the X3 will mean that it can be paired with more amps and headphones/IEMs?

I have about 14 albums in OGG on my X5.  They work well although most of my albums are in FLAC and some in WAV.

Just my luck, I purchased one of them last week for £69.99

The good news is that they are genuine cards.
